When Willing Willie was on Wowowee I remember he threw in enough English that I could understand what he said from time to time. Now there are so few English words spoken that I just cannot follow it and, of course, its the wife's favorite show.So he does an interview with some crying 30 something woman and Dona is translating for me. It seems that the girl is crying because her foreign, online, boyfriend (turns out he is Chinese) was 'making' her get naked on the video cam. Willie asks: Why do you do that bad thing. She says because he sends money and she has kids to feed. Now the thing that Willie says next, according to my wife, is that: If that foreigner comes here and wants you to do bad things then you should call this number XXX XXXX and he will be deported and not allowed back in the country.I just found it interesting and it illustrates the 'blame the foreigner' point of view.Oh wait, there is a foreigner on the show from India now. He is speaking English and Willie is being so nice, no mention of deporting foreigners when he is speaking in English.

Yes there is definitely a move to speaking less English and more inTagalog ... this started with Noy Noy ...... and has progressed to the senate hearings on the SC Chief Justice ..... the speakers are warned if they speak to much English during the hearings ....... even the news on the ANC channel which used to be all in English is now using less and less English ....... oh well ..... I live in their country so if they want to quite speaking English so be it ...... I don't care ..... maybe they will start learning Chinese ...... :hystery: ...... by the time they totally give up English I will be long gone from this planet ...... :nudie:

We saw Willie and his roadshow in Tacoma Washington a few years back and the production was , well, like a "B" movie.. and he was caught on mic a few times where even I could tell he did not intend to be and my wife says he was saying things like, " you people are stupid", I think towards his staff... and anyone that knows better knows NOT to use the word "stupid" around Filipinos as this is a big no-no word. I believe it has to do with an already borderline inferiority complex that this word only makes worse.... point is, there are definitely at least two sides to the Willie dude and the real side is not good.... he seems like a real prick and that is what my wife calls him. BUT, she would never miss a show, whether it was WoWoWee or the reinvented version on today....Which I always wonder about... why sit around watching sad sad stories of pain and suffering and then break out into game and song, only to return to another sad sad story.. .that show is an emotional roller coaster and now that I understand less of the spoken word, I end up watching the people watching it..... maybe through seeing these sad stories every day we feel better about our own condition??? IDK, just not my thing I guess. Pokwang is a riot though..... maybe not so if I understood what she was saying.

When my wife is watching a TV variety show downstairs, I just go upstairs and watch something else I like or just watch the movies I've already downloaded from the internet! I understand the Tagalog language, but don't like watching Filipino variety shows on TV, seems to be just a waste of my time! I only enjoy watching any good movies in English, but sometimes a few good Tagalog movies, but only once in a blue moon!
