Matthew23 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Trying to gauge what it is you miss most from home, or more accurately, any western country? I'm speaking pretty materialistic here, I figure when i get there i'm going to have forgotten some items which may seem mundane/trivial at first but ill miss dearly once i settle in. So what do you miss from home, what do you wish you could run down to your local supermarket to pick up? What is important luggage for a foreigner to remember when venturing off to the Philippines for 6 months or longer? Thanks. ^.^
i am bob Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Though I have not made it to the Philippines and my new home yet, I can already answer that question... For in all my travels around the world, I had never found it anywhere else! This was a food item I loved when I lived in Nova Scotia for 25 years - a good old Canadian East-coast Donair! It looks like a Gyro but uses different spices and sauce! Some places will make what they call a Donair (Australia is one) but it is not the same!!!

MacBubba Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Like Bob, I am still in Canada, but having been to the Philippines, what I think I will miss would be the vast selection of cheeses that we enjoy in Canada. What I won't miss is the beer. Give me a cold San Miguel anytime! MacBubba
