(Concerning some other countries for NOT disabled, but retired:

/Sweden. Are paid to abroad, but if it's outside Europen Union, then NOT geting the GUARANTEE MINIMUM retirement pay, if it's lower than that, but no difference if having higher pay (except tax is counted some different, bader than living in Sweden if having low pay, better if having high.)

/Canada. According to a documentary about a Canadian trying to marry one - to young - Filipina. He had to live 6 months in Canada to get his retirement pay. But he was messy about some other things, so perhaps it isn't true/he know wrong.

Many disabled Swedes live in Thailand, but I don't know if they have told the Swedish officials.

Sorry about the hijack but your info isn't quite correct Thomas... Any Canadian pension we have paid into has to be paid out. Now when we get into provincial funds and allowances or just plain federal allowances, those they can reneg on. Allowances are and only ever will be an allowance and not an entitlement.

That Canadian had fooled the Filipin family-in-law he is a millionaire, but from what the documentary maker (=his daughter) said it seem he is even far from millionaire in pesos...   :)   have income LESS than most Canadians. So i suppouse he only get the later of the retirement pay you wrote.

Did you find out if your SSD (Social Security Disability) reevaluation can be done in the Philippines or do you have to return to the USA for that?

 

I have 2 friends from Belgium who are living in the Philippines. By Belgium law if a Belgium is receiving a monthly payment from the government that person is required to maintain an address in Belgium. One friend has regular retirement and is using his daughter's address in Belgium as his address, therefore he hasn't been required to return to Belgium for over 3 years now. The other friend's address was an apartment he was living in so he must return to Belgium once every year to reestablish a new address. Also, his retirement is based on a disability so he must be reevaluated every year in Belgium by a Belgium doctor. Address verification and reevaluations are done in December of each year. This past December he didn't return to Belgium so his disability benefit was cut off. He's back in Belgium now trying to get disability benefits again.

 

Every country has different laws and rules so what applies to one country may not apply to yours.

 

US citizens are not required to maintain an address in the US in order to receive monthly SS or SSD payments.

That isn't completely true. It depends on your disability. My brother had a stroke and he can't walk or use his left arm and he isn't required to see a doctor every 6 months.
