Here's a nice article I came across that details the tuition of the top universities in the Philippines based on latest figures. It also shows in peso how much it would cost to get an education abroad. Really helps put things in perspective specially the stark diffences in cost  :1 (103):

There is a huge difference in QUALITY too.

I compared several universities/colleges to see where I can find a specialist to cover the parts I don't know myself, if I decide to start such type of business. The part of the students. who managed to get such exams, differered from 0 to 95 % in different schools!!!

95 % sound suspisious to good, but IF that school is much better than the others, then perhaps the best suiting students chose to apply to there, although that school has rather much higher fee than average, so it's POSSIBLE it's true.

(I checked the same occupation education in Sweden just to compare, and here 60 % finnish the education and manage to get such exam.)

Interesting.

I have 2 kids, Phil/Am (we did not use my Aussie option). I have 3 kids in the USA all post grad, the younger daughter still in the Navy, still studying so technically not yet post grad. 5 kids in all.

I like the soft option, college in the Philippines and here's what I see.

I like my daughter to be in enrolled in FEU, De La Salle, Adamson aiming to play varsity volleyball the kind you see on TV. She would need to be 5'7", 5'8", well trained and out of a good high school program. At 22-23, she's free, she can go to the USA with her "soft" degree. I hope in the Navy, but at 22 she will tell me not vice versa. Any degree will be ok even if in P.E. Nursing? It is up to her. All fields with graduates coming from the Phils are getting restricted now, so you can't count anything on that.

I see my son at 18-19, no college also going military in the USA. After 4-6 years he comes back here to use the GI Bill x 4 years. Again it will be his choice.

There is a major caveat with US Citizen's born overseas who like to also marry a local Filipina/Filipino. The US requires four years of residency before transferring citizenship.

My wife recently graduated with a BS from Saint Josephs College in Maasin, Leyte. Sounds like the cost was about $1000/semester but with several extra expenses as well, and of course books. She worked for 5 years to put herself threw.

Her brother is about to graduate from high school and of course the family cannot afford to send him to college. I know she would love to help him but understands that we cannot - at least not until she is working a bit. But before I say anything I wanted to get a real idea about tuition costs.

I am not talking about one of the expensive Manila top tiered schools, so let's not worry about those. And IF I considered helping him it would probably not be to foot the entire bill.

So before I get in too deep and even hint to my wife that we can help, I wanted to get a notion of costs.

going to a state university is not a problem .. I myself can testify because i graduated without the aid of my family.. All i did was went to local government and asked for a scholarship, luckily they granted it to me. my problem that time was my expenses but i manage to work side by side and selling stuffs n my classroom. then finally, i graduated BS Business Ad. .

willing students will find a way and will use their initiatives ..  getting forced student will blame parents of their shortcomings .. savage
