Lunch With Bruce

I first learned about Bruce and his Catbalogan, Samar charity "Philippine Basic Needs" through this forum. From time-to-time, my wife and I would send a balikbayan box with goodies that the charity could either sell or give away to needed families. More recently the boxes included Hawaiian heirloom papaya seeds for free distribution to farmers in Leyte and Samar.

 

We attempted several times to meet in the Philippines, but our travel schedules never made it possible. Until today. Bruce resides in Hollywood, Florida and the two of us were staying at an RV park in Fort Lauderdale. A few emails and a couple of phone call later, the three of us were having lunch at a restaurant next to a marina. It was a pleasant way to spend an afternoon -- talking about all the good and bad things about the Philippines.

 

If you are thinking about supporting a charitable organization in the Philippines, this is the one I would recommend. Philippine Basic Needs accomplishes a lot on a shoestring budget. At the moment 11 children are able to attend school because of Bruce.

Lunch with Bruce, that would have been interesting  :)  I hope to have his site back up and running soon since he forgot to pay the domain name registration fees which caused us a few problems but after sorting it out I had his domains transferred to the one domain registry so that it is easier to control.  :rolleyes:

I haven't met Bruce in person yet but I have always thought he is a very nice, caring and honest person. He accomplishes a lot with the donations he receives.
