Bohol Hotel Recommendations

Recommended Posts

We are planning to go to Bohol for Christmas this year and I want to get the hotel and everything booked early.  When we went at Xmas 2011 there were almost no rooms left on Panglao when I was booking 30 days in advance.  We ended up at the Bohol Vantage and enjoyed it, but it is up on the hill on the southeast side of Panglao, a bit far from things.  We never even made it to Alona so I don't know what it is like there.  We spend the day at Bohol Beach Club and it was very nice, but I don't want to spend that much per night.

I am planning to rent a car this time, so that will give us some flexibility that we didn't have last time.

I know a few members have been recently so I thought I would ask for recommendations.  Here is what I am looking for:

- 1 air con room for 2 adults, one 10 year old and a baby

- Near or on a nice beach area with decent snorkeling

- Reasonably quiet.  No boom boom discos nearby (should I rule out the entire Alona Beach area?)

- Family friendly

- Decent free breakfast

- Less that p4000 a night.  A lot less is best!

Thanks for any ideas!

Hi O.M.W,

A couple of years ago ( Gosh, doesn't time fly ? ) I stayed at Nisa Travelers Hotel in Tagbilaran.

Not posh but clean and friendly. Cost me 1000php a night. It's bang in the middle of town, across

the road from MacDonalds. My aircon room had 2 single beds and private CR. Don't know about

noise 'cos I'm deaf. Anyway you can take a look at ...nisatravelershotel.com. You'll see me there

in their photo's. I'm the really good looking guy with a beard.

I recommend you stay at the Lost horizon. Book early!

Its pretty difficult to get a self hire car here at present but I do know a guy here that will have 4 or 5 brand new cars for self hire by then hopefully.

I remember you posted about that and I did look at the website back then!  It did look like a nice place but I don't think we want to be in town.  Website does not seem to be up right now.

How much have you made on your royalties?

Alona Kew White Beach Resort is where we stayed Christmas 2011.  They have nice hotel rooms and also nice aircon beachside cottages which is where we stayed.  The pool is nice and the food at the restaurant was good also.  I would book early and also go for the package deal to see the sights of Bohol.  By booking the package you can save some money.  The river boat cruise with lunch is great and a must do!  Very fun and relaxing!  If you stay there ask for driver Gary.  Maybe all the drivers are good but I really enjoyed Gary's local knowledge and service.  Also remember where ever you stay, take along a printed copy of your booking so you don't get overcharged.

That looks really nice.  I didn't mention a pool but the 10 year old would like it, and I didn't mention diving because it was not a top priority, but if time allows I might dive.

That looks nice too!

We hired a car and driver for a day too, and he was good.  I would like to rent a car for a least a few days, if possible.  Abby's brother lives on Bohol and a car would add flexibility when we go see him.

We enjoyed the river cruise and will do it again!
