the holiday's for 2015 have been released by the government,

which for some means some slight changes in our daily routine..

this DOES NOT include the local or provincial holidays that occur

(that seem to get pulled out of a hat)    post-1293-0-30921700-1406546367.jpeg

for those who will be doing their VISA renewals or other government transactions.

Please take note so you can SAVE$$,and avoid the late fees or other inconveniences

President Benigno Aquino III has issued Proclamation 831 declaring the regular holidays and special non-working days in 2015.

The regular holidays are:

January 1 - New Year’s Day;

April 2 - Maundy Thursday;

April 3 - Good Friday;

April 9 - Araw ng Kagitingan;

May 1 - Labor Day;

June 12 -  Independence Day;

August 31 - National Heroes Day;

December 30 - Rizal Day.

The special non-working days are February 19 - Chinese New Year;

November 1 - All Saints Day.

Additional special non-working days are:

January 2 - day after New Year;

The President said Chinese New Year has been declared a special non-working day as a manifestation of solidarity with Chinese-Filipinos.

Under the proclamation, February 25 (Wednesday) was also declared a special holiday for schools to mark the People Power 1 anniversary.

The proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eid’l Fitr (end of month-long fasting or Ramadan) and Eid’l Adha (culmination of the Islamic world’s pilgrimage to Mecca) will be issued after the dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined according to the Hijra or Islamic calendar.

Under existing pay rules of the Department of Labor and Employment, an employee who reports for work on a regular holiday is entitled to 200 percent of his basic wage for the first eight hours, and an additional 30 percent of his hourly rate for overtime.

They got the date right but not the reason it's a special non-working day...

February 19th is my birthday - the Chinese New Year just happens to be the same day!

:D

Bob, your birthday is often a holiday somewhere in the world - sometimes in Canada, when it coincides with Family Day.

How are you liking the Philippines...I am hoping that you are finding it as good as you had wished.
