Globe Warns Subscribers About Pasaload Text Scam

I've received 2 of these text messages from "Globe Postpaid Advisory"

You have been charged 300 pesos for texting roaming numbers. To deactivate charges just text 300 1234 to 2906xxxxxxx. Thank you.

The "2" in front of the number is Globe's share-a-load code that will transfer p300 worth of load from my account to this prepaid number. Their timing was perfect the first time because I had just accidentally texted someone overseas, what are the chances? Anyway, it's a scam.

This is the text I received yesterday, the 1st indication it's phony is that the sender number starts with 63906xxxxx. The legit Globe spam messages come from numbers like 8888, 1234, etc.

Been getting them every few days for months now you can report them too and the numbers will be deactivated soon enough on http://www.globe.com.ph/stopspam

 

 

After Yolanda there was a huge spate of spam text messages portrayed as coming from relatives who lost their phone e.g. Nanay, this is my new number and theres no shops for load, can you send me some asap.

Reporting these numbers is a wasted effort, they use throwaway pre-paids, then transfer and sell the load as soon as they get a sucker. Every single one of these I've received has been from a different number. Of course if the carriers really wanted to stop this they could.  And they're devious, here's one I got a couple weeks ago.
