Breaking news on TV right now.

!st Shooting - Military member shot at the War Memorial across from the Canadian Parliament buildings.  The shooter was described as wearing a black hoodie and black pants and carrying a long gun.  The shooter then crossed the road and entered the Parliament buildings through the Centre Doors (the public doors).  Video showed the Military member receiving CPR and transported by ambulance to hospital.

2nd Shooting - The gunman was heard firing off shots inside the Parliament buildings.  News at this time is minimal.  It was reported that the gunman was shot and killed outside the office of the Parliamentary Sargent at Arms (Vickers) by Mr Vickers.

3rd Shooting - Reports of somebody having been shot at the Rideau Center.  No further information at this time.

Further reports of police chasing at least one other shooter being chased by police, as well as another report saying there may be several other shooters in the area.

A large area around the scene is being slowly closed off.  Like most things carried out on a large scale, too many people in charge redirecting control of those trying to do their jobs...  Or, as Jake would say, a Cluster-Flock...!

The first shooting was of Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a 24 year-old father of two and reportedly a reservist with that famous Canadian(?!!) regiment, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was on guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.

The gunman was a 32 year-old recent convert to Islam, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, who had already been identified as a potential terrorist and had his Passport taken away from him.

This is the second attack by supposedly ISOL (ISIS) backed and trained terrorists in Canada this week.  Earlier, near St Jean, Quebec, another suspected ISOL backed terrorist ran over 2 military members out walking during their lunch hour.  One dead and one in critical condition.  The suspect then fled and was chased by police until he rolled his car on the highway and was subsequently shot and killed while trying to avoid arrest.

I don't understand what's going on.  Two men recently converted to the religion of peace but shortly afterwards both of them went on a rampage.  If this is the religious of peace then I don't want to see the religion that teaches hate.

They were basically brainwashed by the ISOL (formerly known as ISIS) to be fear-mongering fools.  Their religion does not nor did teach them to be other than peaceful - just people who used the religion.  Very similar to the Christian Crusades of centuries past.

Lets hear it for the Sargeant at Arms, Kevin Vickers! The parliament full of police etc and it is the Sargeant at Arms (a largely ceremonial role) who at least at this point is attributed as being the person to put this crazy down.

One for the good guys.

On a separate note condolences to the family and friends of the soldier killed, performing a duty to his country. Who prides itself in keeping its memorials and Government buildings and spaces open (as much as possible) to the public.

This morning's news was going on about how the shooter was homeless...  Apparently, his mother, up until last week, hadn't seen him in over 5 years and he told her he was homeless...  And he spent his last night in Ottawa in a homeless shelter...  So, where did he spend the rest of his time?  He said he was in Ottawa because his passport had been blocked from leaving the country...  It was still under review...  And, if he had a passport, how could he be homeless?  How did he get the gun?  Where was he keeping it? Who taught him how to use it the way he did? So many more questions...  So many questions...!

I saw on the news that the mom said "I cry for my country, not my son" or words to that effect. Class act. My type of lady.

Which brilliant politician made the decision to give soldiers rifles to stand guard but no ammunition?  Any intelligent person should know that if you walk around with a firearm with no ammunition to defend yourself then you are just asking to be killed.  The attacker knew the guards were not armed so they were easy targets for him.  Military personnel are trained how to use firearms so they should be fully armed and authorized to use lethal force when necessary.  Giving them unloaded guns is very stupid especially when there have been threats of violence from radicals.
