Hi all.

I have been lurking around the forum for a while. I have found it useful. I would appreciate any advice. I have a budget of approx p20,000 PM.

I'd like something close to the nightlife or at least close to transportation to nightlife.

Has to be clean and safe. Preferably with WiFi.

I'm posting this new topic as I was following the similar topic but it seems to have gone way off topic.

Regards David.

Are you talking about $500 US. How long are you staying and what city? The cheapest room i ever stayed in was $60 a night , most expensive almost $400 per night. Bar hoping will cost you money , girls extra. if you are just passing through for a few days you will be fine. Costs while on vacation are a lot more, the guys on this site live there big difference in costs. I go there two weeks at a time and go crazy i spend well over 420,000 pesos.    Poker Mike   i am now moving there and plan on spening $3,500 a m onth US

That's my accommodation budget. $445PM. this is for a 3 month lease. I know its possible. I have seen some online for this and less.

I think that $60 per night would get you a nice room at a nice hotel.

I have also spent $400 per night but only when I had little other choice.

I'm not competing on who can spend the most. I just want advice from anyone who has done the same.

I have a hotel booked for the first week. 3* costing about $30 per night near fuente circle. I could stay there but I'd rather something a bit more independent of hotel rooms and a bit bigger. Staying in Cebu for 3 Months as in the title of post.

Unfortunately, that happens so I closed it.

3 months is a long time to live in a hotel room. I don't know why anyone would want to stay near Fuente Circle, I would want to be as far away as possible. I have heard generally good things about Apartelle de Arcenas, and it's well within your budget. I believe their units have kitchens and it's a much better area. If you look through the "Where to Stay" section of the forum you can find others.

First time in Phil/Cebu. I agree I don't want to stay in a hotel for the 3 months. Hence this request for help.

I have read through many of the posts and have a couple of options like apartelle de Arcenas. Also Betty's apartments.

Any other suggestions are very welcome.

Ideally I'd like a condo with a view but this may not be within budget.

I was looking at one in Ramos tower, Ramos St. It was really nice and within budget but they won't reply to emails from me.

Most of the condo owners don't want to mess with a 3 month lease, even with a security deposit. Some make outrageous demands like 1 year paid in full with "pre-dated checks". I think you're going to have to compromise.

I think you may be right. I have a week in the hotel to find something. If all else fails then Arcenas or Betty's will be OK.

Pickin's are a bit slim as many OFW's come home for the holidays plus there's Sinulog in January, so many places are already booked.

You can try GE Homes on Cabahug Ave in Mabolo (they flood CL with ads), but they "bait n switch".  I looked there about 2 weeks ago and the room I was shown was advertised for 15K, but I was told it was 20K. I didn't push the matter as I had already decided not to rent there as the room was on the 5th floor and there's no elevator; as I have bad knees it was non-starter for me. They do offer monthly rentals, most are about 15-20K per month (+electric), and the location is not bad, but the rooms (like many here) will be noisy as it's right on a main street; of course, also like many places here, there's barking dogs and crowing roosters to contend with too.

A bit over your budget at 25K for a 1 BR is Strawberry Residences; they're basically right across the street from GE Homes. I've stayed there before and it's nice. Although a bit over my 20K budget I considered staying there again, but there were no 1BR's available for a 6 month stay; maybe there is for a shorter stay. They also have 2BR's at 30K. Email them if you want, they usually reply fairly quickly.

I looked at Arcenas too, yes it's in a nicer area, about a 5 minute walk to Gaisano Mall . They had several units available when I was there. I opted not to rent there as I found something for less that suited my needs better. The only thing I didn't like about Arcenas was what they call a sofa was really more like bench with a thin foam pad on the seat; it reminded of a park bench, lol.

Another option is "Trinity Plaza". Be warned the building is quite old and doesn't look very appealing from the outside and the rooms are also a bit dated, however it may suite your needs as the location is good; maybe a 5 minute walk to Ayala and a short taxi ride to Mango Square. Here's a link to their ad on Ayosdito. Note that the room shown was already rented, but they have others.

In case the link is broke, the ad was posted on Oct 24th; simply titled "1 bedroom Condo in Cebu City"

Good luck in your search and enjoy your stay :)
