Anyone Live In Zamboanga City? What's It Like?

Does anyone here live in Zomboanaga City?

 

I'd like to know what it's like... are there many other foreigners there?  Is it as dangerous as everyone says it is?

 

Please only respond if you have physically been in Zamboanga recently...  Half the stuff I've read about Zamboanga seems to come from people who have never been there... they make it sound worse than.... Compton.

No matter what you will get replies from others who do not live there. My wife lives there and I live in aus for now so let me know if i qualify to some extent to answer your topic,

I lived there from 2002-2011 and have not lived there since. I visited in 2013 for our wedding and narrowly missed a kidnapping attempt in the Resort we were staying in by hours (5).

 

Since the US started to pull out of there it has regressed progressively and I no longer travel there. It is relatively safe for pinoy but not so for foreigners...

I was there a couple weeks ago for a couple days... Stopped in to see a friend... Now, I'm the kind of guy who, if I'm told to not go somewhere? The line to go forms behind me! But then, that used to be part of the job before retiring from the military... I wouldn't recommend the average person going there right now... Even with a large support network, it's really not the safest place to be... :D
