Forbidden Love. Adultery in Philippines

The law in the Philippines is a little different to what you might expect.

To start with, adultery is a criminal offence. Both a wife and her lover can go to jail for it. Her husband, however, is a different matter

Technically, a husband does not commit adultery.  He can screw around as much as he likes, but if he brings his mistress under the same roof as his wife he commits the crime of "concubinage".

I have seen the film; its good.

The whole adultery/concubinage thing just shows that the laws here were written by men, not women ha ha... crazy isn't it?  :tiphat:

My favourite law is definitely "estafa" - which covers bouncing a check or saying that a public official is corrupt!

No. Mostly Because their magic man is a sexist? There might be some secret bearded lady priest tho with all the fancy dresses they wear.

I haven't seen the video but I take it that the foreigner got involved with a married woman who was separated from her husband. He knew or did not care. I can understand this. I'm pretty sure it happens a lot.

There was much more to the story including the husband trying to kill the foreigner. Corrupt cop who offered to kill the husband. The woman and foreigner were in love and she was pregnant, when the ex found out she was seeing someone all hell broke loose from memory.
