It's world wide, but basic Restaurant 101. In the Philippines, a typical meal includes a small portion of meat and a large portion of rice. Keeps costs down but lets the customer go home feeling full and happy.

Unlimited but I'm sure the cost of the dinner includes the seemingly "free drinks".

Fountain Coke refills only cost 12 cents which makes soda one of the items with the largest profit margin. The same could be said for iced tea or coffee. What restaurants hate is for people to drink water with their meal.

I have water sometimes when I grab a snack at MacDonalds. I don't think the employees care.

I know whenever I would stop into Jolly Bee I'd have to ask for about 15 of them little thin napkin squares in case I had to wipe my mouth a couple times. Where's the savings in paper products effecting the bottom line? It's got to be minimal. I can understand condiments end up in hand bags, but napkins? Gimme a break! :571c66d400c8c_1(103):

It's the foreigners stealing napkins as they use them for toilet paper, the locals dont need.
