Forum Support Old55 Posted January 2, 2017 Forum Support Posted January 2, 2017 Is there an undeveloped rainforest, jungle or park outside of Mindanao a Foreigner could safely visit? Preferably with reasonable access. The Palawan thread got me thinking that, Palawan may be the last place in Philippines to have truly unspoiled areas today. Wild monkeys that would be a plus.* *Jake, Not wild monkey business!
Reboot Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Totally off topic, but Costa Rica is great for that sort of thing. They pretty much invented eco-tourism there. I haven't done much venturing in the wilderness in the Ph....yet.

They have strictly blocked development of huge areas and Costa Rica is a small country big payoff in tourism. Opo Island and the area off Moalboal are world class marine preserves but I don't know of any forests or jungle that has not been clearcut.

The Interior of Siquijor is fairly well isolated and is safe to Visit, much to see Inland Coves and Caves. robert k Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 There are tribes on Mindoro who don't want to mix with the modern world, or so I have read. I didn't go to see for myself because that would be defeating their purpose if it's true.
Dave Hounddriver Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I've done a reasonable amount of walking along forest and "jungle" trails and I have found that as soon as I get to an unspoiled or preserved area I can hear the whine of a chainsaw from an illegal logger. Kind of like walking on the beach in the "preserved" area near Sibulan. They have an outpost to observe that the area stays "preserved" but the guy watching just sits back and lets the locals rape the sea sand, fish and anything they can eat. The only thing the "preserve" it from seems to be the fishing boats.
