And that would be true in California...so one can only imagine in the Ph. We just had a Senator get her husband a billion dollar rail high speed rail contract. Nice work if you can get it.

Well it will have to start and finish somewhere.......

Adjacent land values may prove very lucrative to someone.......

Well that's easy.  As soon as they build islands to put the bridge supports on, China will claim the islands :boom:

Likely China will be the one building the islands and the bridge as the Filipino engineers are OFWs.

It has taken 10 years to get the go ahead on the 3rd bridge between Ontario and Michigan at Detroit as the land owner on the American side was also the owner of the 2nd bridge and did not want competition.

The feasibility study will be conducted by international consulting and engineering firm Systra to determine the economic feasibility of the proposed monorail project, point out the possible routes with the highest passenger traffic in the city and finalize the entire cost of the project

Consulting firms make big bucks by telling government agencies what they want to hear.  If the "entire cost of the project" in the Philippines is anything like what happens all to often in the USA, they will need to multiply the cost "estimate" by a factor of three or four, and time to completion by at least two. Even then both estimates could still be too low. :571c66d400c8c_1(103):

It would be a good system if they could just get around the Land Ownership, which is going to have to change if the PI wants to do any real transportation projects.

The USA found a way around it with just two simple words: Eminent Domain.

Translated from legalese to plain English: The government says it needs your property more then you do, so they can just take it and give you what they think is fair compensation.

Simply stated they get your land and you get it up the wazoo.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - I meant the US government.
