I had a stroke last night.  Right arm weak, loss of speech, and difficulty swallowing.  Mostly recovered now but wondering if any members who have had stroke and can recommend a good doctor in Cebu City for follow up care.

Moderators note:  I tried to reply and got a FORBIDDEN page.  JGF?  Wazzup.  I was only going to say

No recommendations but you have my deepest concern. I woke up at 6 am last week and was having a (what I thought was) heart attack. Its not a fun feeling. All the best to you. Keep your nearby friends on alert in case of complications.

If you are a High Cholesterol suffer maybe seek a Good Pharmacy and ask about things.

I was taking 5 mg rosuvastatin for hi-chol for 3 years then my doc upped it to 10 mg last medical but I find that my legs get sore so I go back to 5 mg for a few days then a 10 mg, then back to 5 mg. Anyone else have some info on statins that do not cause sore muscles?

Google says that it is common in statins to get muscle pain/soreness in legs but there are 2 or 3 out of 20 that may not for some people. Some say Lipitor has ED effects so not that one. I am trying to change my diet somewhat and lose weight so that maybe, next medical, I can stop taking statins.

Take Care my Friend and see a Doctor, even go to A& E

Would that be "Emergency".  My wife took me to the little government hospital in Badian, about 30 minutes away.  I take blood pressure meds, cholesterol lowering drugs, and also an 80 mg aspirin every day.  Even though I could not speak I had my wife tear open and give me 2 aspirin before going to the clinic.  The clinic told me to double up on the blood pressure medicine to twice a day, and added one more drug "citicoline".  They want me to return in 30 days, but I really would like to find a specialist in Cebu City for second opinion and follow up.

I take simvastatin 40 mg and yes they can have that side effect and also can cause liver damage.  Do not eat grapefruit or pomelo as it can cause a build up of the statins and cause problems.

Yes! as they can reduce the Blood pressure there and then they can see what is happening, The main thing about Strokes is to be one step ahead so I will agree Search for a Specialist. Just take things easy don't Panic and less stress the better, Sounds like the Hospital have got you contained so that is a good Start I guess the new One maybe a Blood Thinner/anti Clot It is important to get the Blood nice and easy Flowing to get over the blockage and not disturb any Clot that may be there. It will round off and Hopefully no need for Surgery, Depending on the % blockage I fee you may have had a Lucky escape, Mike I do hope all goes well, keep us informed my Friend, it is important for us Older and mainly Overweight people with bad diets to keep up to speed on things
