This was done due to a mutual agreement made over a year ago to avoid potential "contact" between US and Russian forces. The facts clearly show that Assad's guys were warned.

Hey Dan, I know you're a former US Army comm specialist working with your fellow spooks (crypto and intel) -- this deconfliction link between US and Russia over the Syrian airspace, is that encrypted or goes out in plain voice and data?

Why the Navy’s Tomahawk missiles were the weapon of choice in strikes in Syria

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2017/04/06/why-the-navys-tomahawk-missiles-are-the-most-likely-option-for-a-strike-in-syria-against-assad/?utm_term=.8957745ce123

So Obama talked about striking Syria if they use chemical weapons.  Trump talks shite about nothing but takes action.  Wow.  This is a game changer.

Wonder what there plan for China, North Korea and Russia is.  Looks like we are not gonna know until the missiles hit.

EDIT:  Watching CNN the reporter says the US has proof that the chemical weapons came from a Syrian plane that took off from that airport and that is why that airport was hit.  Now what?

I agree. This just seemed to come out of the blue. I think it will make a lot of countries/people think twice about messing with Trump too much. He has clearly show that he is not afraid to take action. I think Obama was a little wary of the Russians, but Trump don't seem to care too much what they think or how they might react. Good for him. Of course, I hope things don't escalate. But, it is way past time that someone did something. I just hope it doesn't embolden the ISIS fanatics in the area too much.

Guess again. The word is Trump told Putin about the strikes in advance and of course Putin told Assad,

Correct

However so did Russia give a two hour warning before inforcing a no fly zone a little while back.

In Trumps case this was to protect civilians  in the area I'm sure.

I read it was a one hour warning for the Russians at the airport and of course the Syrians were warned then.  If you don't warn the Russians and you kill a bunch, then you have a major problem.

After digesting some of the news reports and the posts here, I'm thinking, it was logical to warn the Russians, and of course our military guys know that the Syrians would then be warned.  It is not like that Russians at the airport could just leave and tell the Syrians "going to Burger King, back in two hours".

Only a few Syrians were killed.  I suspect those at the top knew that this would be largely symbolic.  Immediately after the strikes, you had video of the launches all over the news.  This is designed to send a message to enemies everywhere.

Hopefully they did a lot of damage to the facilities but Tomahawks are not giant explosives.  Warned or not, the Russians are pissed about it.

Yes, even the reporters on CNN were speculating that the attacks were designed to destroy property and not kill people so undoubtedly the Syrians and Russians were warned.  If the USA was sending in missiles to kill people in response to the Syrians killing people then it does not really make Trump out to be the "good guy".  This way he comes out smelling like roses and his pre-election deals with the Russians are all swept off the front pages of the newspapers.  Good strategy if it works.

Today the talking head experts say .... warning was sent to protect Russian and the bad guys and that Trump actually did not want to kill anyone only take out some aircraft. Who knows the truth?

And also perfect timing to show the Chinese premier who's got the bigger balls while they're having dinner at his Florida beach resort.  The on going investigation regarding Russian connections within his organisation has created some serious internal war at his house of cards.

With this timely opportunity to launch some tomahawks, Wag the Dog comes to mind.......
