russellmania Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 I made a illegal left turn and the Traffic enforcers were passing out tickets like Halloween candy to about 4 motorbike drivers when they flagged me down on this narrow back street I took this shortcut before in my truck with other cars in the past,so I never saw a NO Left Turn sign. I was on my scooter this day. On the ticket its says pay at the Mandaue Police station, then I hear its the Mandaue City Hall is the place to pay. Which place is it and what time they open? I cannot say because when it has happened to me I just gave the ticketing officer 500 and asked him if he could pay it for me when he goes there. Seemed quite happy to do that. Less hassle than trying to find the place myself. This is not to say I am bribing him, just asking him to pay the fine for me and keep the change. I was tempted to do that in Montana decades ago. The state trooper gave me a speeding ticket that was only $10 and I REALLY wanted to say "Can i give you $20 and then you don't have to bother to stop me next time?" But that would not go over well in the US. Here it seems to be fine.

Love ya like a brother Dave and I hope you don't take this the wrong way, just don't complain about corrupt officials here in the Phil. I personally make them write a ticket and make sure it has the proper stamp on it, that goes for parking fees also. We can either be part of the solution (no matter how small an impact we might have) or part of the problem. Besides about half the time, the "official" doesn't want to go the trouble of writing the ticket, that doesn't make him corrupt, just lazy
Popular Post russellmania Posted May 24, 2017 Author Popular Post Posted May 24, 2017 (edited) Dave it was about 4 other motorbike drivers already stopped when they stopped me. Im 6 ft 6, 235lbs and I cant go in public without filipinos asking me am I a basketball player. The enforcer asked about my height did I play pro ball, so I thought..Yeah im about to get out of this ticket or pay it here. But the other drivers and enforcers were watching and giving tickets, so I believe the enforcer was doing it by the book with me. All with a smile as he wrote me ticket! Yes they are very helpful here helping us to pay our fines and saving us queuing.
Popular Post sonjack2847 Posted May 24, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 24, 2017 Off topic a little but still to do with traffic.I was down town and crossed the road but not at the designated spot.An officer came over to me very angry and said you must cross there, pointing down the road a little.I said to him, with a straight face,Sir the last time I tried to cross there i nearly got run over well he started laughing and said next time cross there ok. Yep I do now I don`t want a jaywalking ticket.
