From South Africa.

PG = Puerto Galera.

I don't have many costly lifestyle patterns - quality food, rental scooter, simple but comfy apartment with AC and internet (don't watch TV), hot shower, small kitchen, fridge.

A few beers a week with the lads (have some friends down there already).

Isn't Puerto Galera a touristy party town?  With go-go bars to boot?  I think $1000 there would be border line.

I'm am going to say you could do it but I hesitant because its not an easy thing to do.  But it can be done if you watch your budget closely and you stay away from girls who think foreigners are rich :whistling:

internet

Things change from place to place, but just an idea, I pay 75 usd for quality internet, that's about 10 % of your budget. Gives you a starting point
