Marawi City (CNN Philippines, June 6) — Government forces recovered almost ₱80 million in cash and checks after flushing out Maute fighters in a house in Marawi City on Monday.

In a media briefing on Tuesday, Task Force Marawi spokesperson Jo-Ar Herrera and Marine officers said P52.2 million in cash and P27 million-worth of stale checks were found inside a vault during a house-to-house clearing operation near Mapandi bridge.

It was alleged that it was drug money from the Maute brothers, one of which may have been killed.

It would be nice if the money could be used to help finance the war on terror but it will end up in someone's pocket, just a question of who's.

It should be used to rebuild the damage that was done to the city and the people.

Help the people rebuild their lives.

That sounds like positive action. I hope you are right.

Yes that is a good idea but as we heard with the donations for Yolanda it does not seem to get used for the right purpose.

Yes, and if you read any of the comments posted by Filipinos about this, they said that it's a good thing that former President Aquino is not in charge any more.

I do not think President Duterte will pocket the money. Do you?

There are many pockets on the way up the chain of command.  Do you think there will be any left for President Duterte?
