In case of an emergency, who would you call?

Nothing like celebrating with a few cold ones during an emergency en route to  the hospital. Would that be your wife or SO on that stretcher waiting for you?

What Guy.

Meant me on the stretcher. But I'm sure even if it was the SO then she'd want to join me.

But alas, we stray from the topic; so enough.

Part of your emergency medical preparedness is to develop a professional relationship with a good local doctor who has privileges at a hospital close to your home. He/She in turn has contacts with all the other professionals/specialists in the area. Keep a business card in your wallet in case you are unconscious. They will call your doctor.

Same with the local barangay captain or police department. Send them a Christmas present such as a case of beer. (My Dad gave cash gifts to uniformed firemen and police officers who came around to greet the family, "Merry Christmas." Fire and Police department response to a downed live electrical cable on our street was less than 3 minutes. The fire trucks waited until the power emergency unit arrived 40 minutes later.)

Important thing is to be known in the community. Maybe you should include pedicab drivers on your street as part of the gift giving. You may need one of them for emergency transportation.

A couple of times.  But you are pretty much on your own.  When I wanted the police I had to go to the station and get them (no gas or no vehicle).  When I wanted an ambulance I could not find the number (I should have been better prepared).  I have some very good friends I can count on but almost all of them are smart enough to turn their phones off when they go to bed at night (I do the same) so in one case I had to drive myself to emergency, on my motorcycle, trying not to black out and I got lucky.

I have come to the conclusion that there is a reason people believe in God's Will.  No one else is gonna help you at 4 in the morning if you have an emergency.  There is one thing I have learned.  If you live in a subdivision with a good guard service, and if you have a live in partner, and if she can possibly race to the guard's gate house and wake him up, then he/they will help.

This sounds like a good analogy.

Just like so many other quotes, which include:

'living is not for the faint of heart' and 'growing old is not for the faint of heart,'

now we can add 'Living in the Philippines is not for the faint of heart.'

Our nephew works at the local hospital, (he has a tricycle and a m/c), our neighbour and niece work at the health center and our nephew in law drives ambulance.

The 1st nephew came to our house once at 1 AM to borrow 2,000p to take the ambulance driver (the 2nd nephew) to the hospital who had gotten into a m/c accident while driving drunk.

Lol. Since I don't have much I don't care if it burns down and would actually prefer NOT to be close to a police station. But being close to a bar would be nice, especially if it's on the way to (or right next to) a hospital - can stop and have a cold one on the way.

It's the Philippines, you can have the beer delivered to the hospital room.

Call 911, ok Good Luck on Step 1

How do you know?

Everything depends on where one lives. I once posted a video showing the emergency services in Davao city, world class.

Great idea.

A rental close to a Hospital,

 close to  a Fire Station

and close to the Police Department.

Good Luck

I didn't plan it, but we have this in Subic Bay Freeport.

10 minutes to private hospital A, 20 to private hospital B.  Usually no traffic. 10 minutes to public hosptial

Modern looking, full size ambulances

Fire station in our sub-division, 5 minutes from the house.

Police sub-station 5 houses away

I have never used the services so I don't that much about them, but they are there.
