That's the first I have heard of that one. :89:

There was mention a few weeks ago that Davoa would only issue 6 month visas to people married to filipinas. On asking it was supposed to be nationwide.

Whoa there, Surely an extension is for a tourist on a 9a, since when has a tourist got to be married to anyone   Scratching Head.jpg

I'll regale what I read a few weeks ago. Apparently one of the expat groups in Davao have a regular meeting , month/bi-monthly I'm not sure which, with the local reps, police etc including the main man from the local BI. The question came up about this change to the 6 month visa being only issued to married expats which he confirmed. It was then ask if this was just Davao to which he said nationwide. You now know as much as I do.

I don't doubt it.  Each person associated with BI has a different answer for the same policy.  To wit:  JGF and I both contacted BI on their messenger site about ECC and both got the opposite answer from the same department.

That said.  I have had two 6 month extensions in Dumaguete with no marital questions asked and clearly stating divorced on the application form.  No wife needed.

I think the same - it's just personalities of BI officers. Like in every other organization.
