Here are some you may want to verify.  I "stole" them from a very old list on another forum that may not be linked to here.  Back in 2009 a foreigner in Cebu decided to create a Cebuano/English dictionary and make his fortune with it.  This is a sampler of some of the words he had.  I am not sure if he made money at it or if he even completed the book but he is just one of many who tried to make sense of this Cebuano language and found out you have to learn it from birth to really be fluent in it.  But there a quite a few expats who get by quite well with a little training.

Ok, but be sure to check them with a few Cebuano speakers.  Keep in mind that there are dialects within the Cebuano/Bisaya language.  Some locals who speak Bisaya cannot understand others who speak the same language but come from a different Visayan area.  It seems to me like Aussies and Brits and Americans all speaking a "common" language but not all the words in the language are common to all regions.

I am learning Ilonggo now (well attempting it).  So my vocabulary words will be a bit different.  I had to start at the beginning - the alphabet. Some of their letters are pronounced differently, especially the vowels. Here is what I got from a Cebuano YouTuber (it is the same for Ilonggo)

Quote

Bisaya Alphabet ABAKADA Pronunciation and Spelling There are 20 letters in the Bisaya alphabet. We also have borrowed letters from the Spanish and English alphabets. Mainly because we are conquered by the Spaniards and American in the past.

20 Bisaya Alphabets a,b,k,d,e,g,h,i,l,m,n,ng,o,p,r,s,t,u,w,y

Borrowed letters from Spanish and English Alphabets are: c, ch, f, j, ll, n, rr, q,v, x and z Cebuano Vowels are: a,e,i,o,u

Pronunciation Consonants are pronounced with the sound of "a" at the end. ba, ka, da, ga, ha, la, ma, na, nga, pa, ra, sa, ta, wa, ya

Vowels: a - fa, la

e - eh/ bed, fed

i - ee/ eel, feel

o - oh/ hop

u - ooh/ moon, food

The consonant "ng" Samples: Sing a song lungs bangs

[/quote]

The biggest problem I am having is with the letter "ng", the nang consonant. It is crazy common in all the languages I have heard here.  In English we have an ng sound but it is in the middle or end of a word (as in "singing"). We do not start a word with it.  I finally found a foreigner on YouTube and he was good at helping other foreigners.

He said to say "singing unit". Instead of a hard U sound, like in unit, use the Filipino U sound (oo as in food). Blur it together as one word - singingunit - and work towards saying "singi" in your head and only say the "ngunit" out loud.  That helped me get the right ng sound.   (ngunit means but, whereas, yet)

Yes Dave--and not to be too critical, I'd say about 1/4 of this list is incorrect, or not really accurate in Bisaya. Just sayin--best to check  with a speaker who can help to correct or  clarify.

Take the words you believe are incorrect, left click and drag your mouse to highlight them.  Then right click and choose "Search Google for" and you will find that they are all correct words:  BUT they may be correct in Camotes (for example) but not in Dumaguete (for example).

I know your man comes from the Borbon area as does my lady.  When my lady came to Dumaguete she found a lot of Bisaya words that are used here and not there.  That does not make 1/4 of the list incorrect for all Bisaya speakers.  What it does is illustrate that even the locals do not know all of their own language.

Well, I was trained in Binisaya through Peace Corps, and have been speaking locally for a long time. I see inaccuracies and some mispellings and Tagalog words that are not used here in my area of Cebu. Yes some might be regional.
