Its all over the news and Facebook so we may as well have our own topic on it.

The Korean War will be formally declared over after 65 years

Quote

The Korean War will be formally declared over after 65 years, the North and South have said.

At a historic summit between leaders Kim Jong-Un and Moon Jae-in, the neighbouring countries agreed they would work towards peace on the peninsula with a formal end to the conflict set to be announced later this year.

The pair agreed to bring the two countries together and establish a "peace zone" on the contested border.

I think it's still a wait and see. See if they can agree on the terms and conditions as this might not happen in the end.

I agree with these comments, simply because the US chose to send its "Big Stick" aircraft carrier group into the area which tells me they are not convinced either.  But I'd rather have NK, SK, China, and US all calling each other friends when they don't really mean it than spouting war noises when they do mean it.

Does not the UN need to vote to end the action in Korea?

To be serious for just a moment, I watched the meeting of the 2 leaders. My Dad served there during the war, and I stood on the exact spot where the two leaders met and shook hands, I must admit I got choked up for a second, I am cautiously hopeful

I think there was more going on in the background. I think someone quietly had a come to God talk to the Chinese and to Kim.

Like what's happening to Putin. The sanctions are biting hard and people aren't happy.
