I got out of the Air Force after 10 years to start a business. In hindsight I should have stayed 20 and then started a business.  Yes, the 80s in Angeles were wild times.  I remember the first night I arrived they took me to The Nipa Hut.  Mind blown.

Been to Nipa Hut many times. Sucks it closed because of sparrow activity. Whisky a Go Go sort of took it's place once we were confined to the fish. I'm going to sleep, I'll post some tips that may help you tomorrow when I wake up.

Before you depart, consider being a member of at least 2 Financial Institutes (Bank, Credit Union) so you vave 2 seperate Debit Cards. Ensure you can transfer funds between each online. Having 2 seperate helped me when i could no longer use an ATM card from one without the embedded chip until i got a new one i used the other credit union debit card.

Using Skype on your cell saves alot of money on calls to and from the PI. I usually load $25 and that lasts me.

Google Clark Airport. You can fly into Clark now, I saw a 1 way ticket to Clark (CRK) from Orlando on Orbitz was around $800. Not sure about bringing a dog in using Clark. Immigration requires an onward ticket for tourists if you don't have an R/T ticket. A cheap onward (throw away) ticket is Manila to Kuala Lumpur & can be bought in advance using Cebu Pacific or another airline.

Dog Boarding is available in AC & Subic. Google it and look on https://www.olx.ph/ for cars & dog kennels.

There is a dude who rents vehicles at subic. look on page 23 of Junes Blue Book. http://blue-bookph.com/

As a USAF/-Vet, RAO/VFW  Subic/AC is a good walk in source to help you. http://www.raosubic.com/

You mentioned you will be working on your software company while here. As a tourist, keep that activity to yourself & use a VPN. Jealousy of your success/activity could get you ratted on for working in the PI on a Tourist Visa.

There are quite a few car rentals in Olongapo now.  Usually a Vios type of vehicle.  Contact me if you need details.

You can get on the rao newsletter e-mail list and you might pickup some helpful info before and after arrival.  E-mail Jack Walker at dirraosubic@gmail.com.  I'm sure he would be glad to meet you.

Thanks for the good tips.  As for my company, I’ve already discussed this with an attorney in Manila.  As an owner of a US-based company, managing  my interests from abroad is not considered to be working in the Philippines as far as the government there is concerned. As an SRRV visa holder, I could easily get a work permit if needed but was told it’s not necessary.

I'm in the process of trying to book a R/T flight to the states from Clark. Seems like the cheaper flights are via the middle east but If you spend time researching and play with the dates, there are Flights via CRK, Hong Kong, US / CRK, China, US / CRK, Korea, US.

Check on sites like Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline.

Amazing how prices have increased compared to last year.

Fuel prices at the gas pump are approx 1/3 more than they were a year ago.  Perhaps that has something to do with it?

Hey PakWaan, it looks like we have quite a few things in common. I’m up in Jacksonville, I’ll be there in August. Going to Cebu for a month and then looking to move to Subic. Fast internet and a good infrastructure is what i’m Looking for also. I’m a Unix sys admin btw. Maybe we can get together and bounce ideas off of one another. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this thread as it seems that all of the posts in this thread will be related to me as well.
