  8. oops . . . last night 'the wife' and I were at the boulevard to get a couple of 50 peso massages. A couple of ladies who made a pretense of being carolers (sang for 5 secs, said Merry Christmas and stuck hand in face) came to us. First they tried 'the wife' and she said something in Bisaya so they came to me. I said I give all the money to my wife and they went away in a huff. Later I asked 'the wife' what she had said. She said: My husband handles all the money so you will have to go to him. Anyway, they went away peeved but at least they went away. ha ha ............ a real, double act .............
  9. Nope. I know of a place by an electric transformer that has a similar sign PLUS a sign warning of high voltage and I still see them pissing there. In addition I walk along the boulevard each night and up to 8 pm there is a public washroom that is neat and clean and the charge is 2 pesos. I am always the only one to use it as everyone else pees into the ocean (foreigners and locals alike . . monkey see, monkey forget that they were raised civilized.) what a good cheer you are .................... :)

  13. Theres a fifth – the dreamers, the lazy, the sense of entitlement group. On my younger days - I have this very good friend I used to hang out with. She is very pretty, intelligent and a terrific sense of humour. However, the family is dirt poor. My friend is the eldest of the family of 5. All her siblings stop their education at the end of primary school and it was only my friend who got secondary and onto college because she got educ scholarship programme. However, her D2D expenses ie. public transport and meals are covered by her family - and I mean the whole family, as all her siblings work and gave her the pocket money for her needs. Her whole family’s hopes and dreams lies on my friend. And my friend encourages their attitude. She knows and her family fully expected her to make good with her studies and land a good job and then it would be her turn to support the rest of the family. Quite a common occurrence in filipino family. Well, she did finish her studies and got that important job. So, alls well that ends well …… NOPE! I really thought she was doing well and was very pleased for her family that their sacrifices are not in vain. But the silly girl have done something at work (which I prefer not to go into details) and resulted in her dismissal. I really feel sorry for her family. And if that is not enough, when she did manage to get another job, not long after – she got pregnant by a married man. On hindsight – maybe it was not surprising what happened. I remember when we talk and shared our dreams and aspirations as young girls do, I used to tell her off, of her silly aspirations. As I keep pointing out to her, its not going to happen unless she will put in the work. And the work has to start NOW! And she just used to laugh at me and think im too serious – too boring. She wants to have some fun. Well, she did have fun living in squalid environment  ……… and she was sooooo promising – what a waste …………….. :(
  14. I agree! I find it an insult to those people who have chosen the hard slug day in day out 24/7 rather than working as a bar girl. Its your free choice – therefore not a Victim.
  15. Security has nothing to do with escaping poverty or money my friend. It is a person who makes them feel secure for whatever reason a very valued thing to women everywhere. I actually meant it in every sense of the word. But saying financial security isn't an important consideration for women the wold over is contrary to human nature. Anyway, I get your point! yeah, right ...................... no wonder there are a lot of single parents in PI
  16. You are correct, most expats are medium rare or well done. Touché ……………… ha ha ………….. and like a fine wine – they are savoured and enjoyed, not rushed or gulped ………….. :mocking:

  20. ha ha .......... you just reminded me of my recent escapade .......... we attended a wedding a couple of weeks as ago at Bellingham Castle in Ireland. and i had more than my usual glasses, unfortunately i dont have a head for alcohol and usually stick to just one glass. anyway, at the sit down dinner, the waiters were not only attentive to the guest every needs but give personalised service too. like they will unfolded your napkin and put it in your lap. if you drop your napkin - they will pick it up and fold it so prettily or again put it back in your lap. i was taken aback .......... and i commented to our young waiter, "wow! personalised service, thats really service for you" the waiter smiled and said but of course madame. and i bantered back, "so, do i get a massage too?" oh, the poor lad was so embarrassed as everyone at the table laughed. but i must say he recovered well - as i wasnt done with him yet. on his next round of serving i told him, im so disappointed as im still waiting for my massage. this time the young lad was ready for me - he said with a straight face, maybe later madame, if you still up to it????? yap ...... i give the lad nice tip for putting up with my crappy joke :)
