  1. Steve, I lived in one for 6 weeks back in 2013 and it wasn't horrible. During the day, no real issues. At night any light you show will draw bugs for long distances if you are away from other light sources. A bright light outside like a couple of 20W LED lights 20 meters (or as far away as you can get) from the house would draw bugs away at night and you could show some diffuse light. I had considered a for lack of a better word, a Nipa house. The solution I thought of is to have a large solid room with it's own roof/solid ceiling where you could control conditions as needed, climate control, show lights, watch tv, read a book without straining your eyes, sleep without a mosquito net. Nothing says you couldn't invest in screen wire for the entire house before the woven panels go on. Just think of the woven panels as modesty curtains. The Nipa house I lived in had some larger overhangs shading the walls and increasing the shaded area. I would add a roof like I have seen on egg farms, the whole roof in the center open with a small roof above that with a 12 inch/300mm air gap. I personally wouldn't do it without the solid room I was speaking of in case a big wind comes along and blows the rest of the house away. My experence was quite pleasant during the day, the bugs were a nuisance at night but I think the bug problem can be dodged if never totally escaped. I have never escaped bugs in the Philippines anywhere (never lived in a highrise condo). The only rat problem I had to deal with in the Philippines was concrete block built house in Manila. I had a mouse in Pili, eating my pancit but I dealt with him.
  2. Thank you Mike, I really appreciate it. I'd have said so sooner but Spectrum internet [ unmentional word ] me, right when I had to make market decisions and also deal with distraught future wife because her grandfather finally succumbed to TB which the doctor was managing (vegetarian diet and inhaler) but not treating even though I said I would gladly pay for a years course of antibiotics, but I wasn't actually present. The Barangay Captain wanted to declare it a covid death, which it patently was not. This is part of what worries me, Political Determinations, not medical. I wasn't trying to snub you.
  3. Glad you are on the mend. The future wife had a toe that looked bad, her mom stepped on it and she wasn't healing the way I thought a 30 something should heal so I told her I'm only marrying a woman with 10 toes to make her go to the doctor. Tetanus shot and pills. I had my own brush, from road rash on a gravel farm road on Mindoro. The rain melts the carabao poop so it's in darkness under the gravel, the perfect breeding ground for staph. It was a day or two before I realized it was trouble. IV antibiotics worked fast though.
  4. So? PM's aren't private anymore? " Hi robert k, Jollygoodfellow quoted one of your posts in a topic. Posted in Freedom I give up. Do what you want, read more into things than they are. Didn't we go through this via PMs a month or so back? .. Go to this Post
  5. So minor character assassination is okay? Or changing something someone says but still putting their name on it is okay? I just want to be certain that's within the rules.
  6. [I like your quote, ] You could have stopped here., whether you liked or didn't like my post, it would at least been concerned with my post. The rest of it you were just trying to associate with me or it wouldn't have been in your reply. If you think it's okay to do this, tell me so. I got some doozies. [but don't think much of the video itself. It really is unfortunate that individuals who feel as strongly as he does cannot somehow be given a place where they can go to be "free" and live with full results of covid. When "my freedom and my rights" endangers the health, safety, and rights of others in the community it really begins to sound incredibly selfish, smacks of hubris, and sounds a lot like a path to anarchy. ]
  7. Remember a short time back when I said the "vaccinated" would become the new super spreaders? You said you were concerned with the same? That didn't take long, did it?
  8. Too bad you say your reply is to my quote, and yet the greatest part of your reply is to the video which isn't mine? I didn't even comment on the video itself. You really do stretch to try and disagree with me. I didn't even mention any diseases.
  9. Freedom is inherently dangerous, but less dangerous than the alternative. A government powerful enough to give you everything you want is powerful enough to take everything you have.
  10. Nice strawman. I'm going to call you a liar. I said how did you know? I did NOT say it couldn't be covid. Quote me where I said it could not be covid?
  11. That doesn't sound good. So the data we have been working off of is less accurate than it could have been? Especially with recent news about breakthrough infections and deaths, accurate data.
  12. Funny you say select and not Detect. Reading is fundamental also. I said the common cold is a corona virus. I did not say more than that.

  14. Mike J's post of 6 hours ago. I should have excerpted it but I wiped it out. My mistake. Here is an article that speaks about mixing and the trials that are taking place. I think it gives a balanced report, I would call it cautiously optimistic based on initial trial results. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-01805-2
  15. [Edit] In response to mike J's article 6 hours previous, I should have excerpted it, but I just wiped it to save save space. Here is an article that speaks about mixing and the trials that are taking place. I think it gives a balanced report, I would call it cautiously optimistic based on initial trial results. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-01805-2 [End Edit] Word salad article. Nothing new there. It's just filler. Reporters and editors have pages to fill and actually, it's an easy topic because people will latch onto things thinking it new/news.
  16. How do you know it's from covid? The CDC admits that the PCR test can't tell covid from any other kind of flu and even the common cold is a corona virus.
  17. Never change. Some people might say this post is unworthy of you but I think it shows who you really are.
  18. I have to disagree there. What is the earliest suggestion of mixing Jabs that you can find? It's not far enough back. That advise was rushed more than prudent, by any reasonable standard, especially in relation to a disease that 99%+ survive. There just isn't that much urgency.
  19. I hear you. I'm so glad I got my license years ago when it was easier. I would be surprised if the Philippines didn't have a farm truck exemption, most countries do.
  20. Do you really want a Philippine commercial drivers license? I sure wouldn't. I think they could be harder on people who have commercial drivers licenses.
  21. Normally I would say someone making decrees like that must think he's prepared for the revolution.
  22. The report I saw was in Canada. Comments seemed less than thrilled, most starting with "Now you tell me" and "A little late". I'd give you a link but the internet seems to not want to give any more recent information. I'm sure if positive information emerges, they will allow it to be seen but it seems to be radio silence since the WHO said don't mix. The old stuff from months ago saying mixing may be better is still up, but it's old. Nothing I can see since the WHO spoke on the subject.
  23. It being only a few weeks since they said it was best ever to mix vaccines and only a week since the WHO says don't, I rather think they are just trying to avoid panicking the over 1 million individuals who mixed in that period of time.
