  1. I will come in on a tourist as she is going in alone this weekend, I need to go to Singapore then plan to fly from there to Clark as possible. next week or the week following. She has been scouting Maybank and it apparently has a branch in Clark or Angeles. Yea, I have seen some things about needing to be in country for a while for many things. Thanks, V
  2. Hi All, I have read through many of the threads but no conclusion. I will eventually move fully into the Philippines but have not decided where. I plan to put feet on the ground in the Clark area for a variety of reasons as a good jump off exploration point. My wife is from Bagiou. I am American paid and employed out of Singapore from an American company as we don't have an entity in the Philipines.. Currently my pay is deposited in a USA bank in Sing dollars and I am charged a wire transfer fee every pay day and of course the exchange rates. I also note that foreigners can't get an account, or can do so with difficulty? My plan is for the Philippine bank to be a secondary local bank with my wife. Can we open a joint account? We could use her parents home address in Bagiou if we need ..I think. We currently live in Cambodia and are trying to work out the details to move. Do we need an account to rent a place in Phil? Buy a car? Thanks, V
  3. @clermont Thanks, yes, I had considered this as this is how we brought some bikes into Cambodia from both China and South Africa, however the law seems to have changed for the Philippines in Feb 2018...no more motorcycle parts...and live Piranha... Thats said, I don't want to go to that level of effort again either, but I appreciate your input. Last Published: 2/12/2018 Philippine law restricts the importation of certain goods for reasons of national security, environmental and public health protection, order and morality, in addition to complying with international treaties and obligations. Prohibited goods include: Used Motorcycle Parts, except engine (Executive Order No. 156); and Live Piranha, Shrimps and Prawns (FAO No. 126, series of 1979). Thanks, V
  4. Good info as I am in a like situation to the original poster...I was also planning to bing in two good Husqvarna Chain saws. I note that a 50hz tool (motor) will work fine at 60hz, however a 60hz tool will not work at 50hz. (usually destroys the starting capacitor) Lastly, @Clermont, I'd like the info you mention in ways to import a motorcycle please? I am guess you mean off road? My wife and I currently live in Cambodia, I have a BMW road bike and a KTM dit bike. Based on all the info on vehicles, I have all but given up on importing the BMW but had held out hope for the KTM. Any info you could add would be appeciated. Thanks, Verne
