  1. I don’t believe that filipinos receive proper driving education and training, plus I’ve been told that the driving skills test is done solely in the LTO parking lots, and not on the actual streets where they will drive. In the US and other countries, the driving skills test is given in actual traffic (on actual roads and in real time traffic).
  2. Coming soon: Sub-orbital flights from New York to Beijing in just 2 hours … for billionaires https://www.dailynews.com/2014/07/07/coming-soon-sub-orbital-flights-from-new-york-to-beijing-in-just-2-hours-for-billionaires/
  3. A magnificent airplane! Although some may think it was grounded for safety issues, the real reason for the failure of the Concorde was the high cost of fuel. “Why was Concorde retired? Despite its innovations, the Concorde wasn’t a monument to efficiency. The Concorde was designed well before the oil-price shock of the 1970's, so even though it was a masterpiece in engineering, it was effectively a fuel to speed converter. Its high energy consumption simply made it unprofitable in an era of high fuel prices.” https://interestingengineering.com/concorde-the-real-reason-why-the-supersonic-passenger-jet-failed
  4. I’m just no longer surprised whenever he wins a fight. The big surprise for me will be when he begins to lose fights.
  5. The ‘Presidential Commission on Good Government’ (PCGG) has succeeded in retrieving $3.7 billion so far. But it looks like Bongbong has been trying to stop the PCGG from continuing to do its work. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/may/07/10bn-dollar-question-marcos-millions-nick-davies
  6. If you think about how the earth was viewed on Star Trek, mankind had evolved to a point where planetary tribalism had truly ended. Of course, there were new tribalistic issues involving Klingons and Romulans.
  7. I was full of wonder on that day! In retrospect, I envisioned how we would soon be sending men and women to Mars and beyond. Plus, being a fan of Star Trek, I had even grander hopes of adventures beyond our own solar system. However, instead of all that, the US decided to stay close to the earth with a disastrous space shuttle program, and now the once successful winners of the space race have to rely on soviet-era spacecraft to get to a space station that’s in a permanent near earth orbit. 50 years ago, I was thrilled about the future of mankind, but today I’m just a cynic! How sad!
  8. There’s a new trend in Metro Manila, Fil-Mex restaurants.
  9. If you really want to find truly authentic tasting Mexican food, you’ll need to go to Mexico (the country). I know this because I’ve been there. What I’m talking about are foods that have Mexican and Spanish origins in the Philippines, including lechon.
  10. Here’s another very cool place to visit. Marcos Twin Mansion, a Monument Mansion located at Brgy. Casile, Cabuyao City. It was owned by the 10th President of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos - just one of at least fifty upscale residences built and owned by former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos. Also the Filming location of: ‘Haunted Mansion’ (2015 film) It was closed when I went there but it seems to be a very popular tourist destination.

  12. Thanks! I usually ask for fresh chili since I like my food more on the spicy side. I’ve even learned how to say “pahingi ng cili po.” Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind if I make it to Cebu.
