  1. If you think about how the earth was viewed on Star Trek, mankind had evolved to a point where planetary tribalism had truly ended. Of course, there were new tribalistic issues involving Klingons and Romulans.
  2. I was full of wonder on that day! In retrospect, I envisioned how we would soon be sending men and women to Mars and beyond. Plus, being a fan of Star Trek, I had even grander hopes of adventures beyond our own solar system. However, instead of all that, the US decided to stay close to the earth with a disastrous space shuttle program, and now the once successful winners of the space race have to rely on soviet-era spacecraft to get to a space station that’s in a permanent near earth orbit. 50 years ago, I was thrilled about the future of mankind, but today I’m just a cynic! How sad!
  3. There’s a new trend in Metro Manila, Fil-Mex restaurants.
  4. If you really want to find truly authentic tasting Mexican food, you’ll need to go to Mexico (the country). I know this because I’ve been there. What I’m talking about are foods that have Mexican and Spanish origins in the Philippines, including lechon.
  5. Here’s another very cool place to visit. Marcos Twin Mansion, a Monument Mansion located at Brgy. Casile, Cabuyao City. It was owned by the 10th President of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos - just one of at least fifty upscale residences built and owned by former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos. Also the Filming location of: ‘Haunted Mansion’ (2015 film) It was closed when I went there but it seems to be a very popular tourist destination.

  7. Thanks! I usually ask for fresh chili since I like my food more on the spicy side. I’ve even learned how to say “pahingi ng cili po.” Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind if I make it to Cebu.
  8. I’m seeing some far-out looking things around the Philippines, like this. It looks like it was teleported from another time and place.
  9. Thank you all for your welcomes. I’m usually very shy about posting on social media but this group seems to warm and accepting.
  10. Just like they always say, time flies when you’re having fun!
  11. I’m usually just an invisible guest on here, but felt like saying hi for a change. I’m up late packing for my next trip to the Philippines. I love it there for visits since Yanks like me appreciate Spanish or is it Mexican food? The adobo, kalderata, menudo, etc. are not to be found in Malaysia, but we have plenty of noodles, rice, and spring rolls. Looking forward to some good eating again!
