  1. I am thinking of applying for a Getgo Debit Card from Unionbank as it gives me an opportunity to store 9 different currencies in a cash wallet. We are off to Hong Kong soon and thought it might be a good way to carry our HK$. Has anyone used this, and are the exchange rates using the wallet currency storage better than banks or money changers in HK?
  2. Hi guys Has anyone tried transferring money to themselves ? Using WU ? I'm thinking of transferring some money that way the reason is to cut down on the amount of cash that I have on me ?
  3. Ok, I have tried Remitly, Xoom, Western Union, Transferwise, and each service has created problems upon sending. Either I get intense scrutiny for various ID proofs, major delays and ultimately denied the transaction. Western Union I tried debit, denied. Then I try bank to WU agent. After 2 days then denied for no apparent reason. Checked with my bank, was not denied by them. Transaction was pending at bank. WU the denied transaction. Tried sending from self in US and receive by self. Remitly don't like that. Even tried from wife to me, then me to wife. Denied! Can use ATM with no problems here. Just hate paying the three associated bank charges on the ATM. In most transfers with the other services been trying to send $3000 from the US. They usually get denied. Finally got one to work only by sending $1000 with World Remit from wife to brother-in-law. There has to be a better way, and I think one of you expats has got the right combo of service. I am currently looking at XE, and Ria for transfer. So wise ones, which do you use? Bank to Back Debit to self Debit to wife Bank to cash? Could it be sending larger amounts kick off problems (+$3000) or keeping transfers to $1000? I haven't found the best route yet! What do you do?
  4. We all know the proverbial "the carabao is sick" line used as an example of the sort of thing that some young ladies may come up with to part the poreigner from his Dollars. Well I just got this from one of my nieces... "Mmm.. can i ask a load. . i really need to call my brother and mama. Because they texted me that it's flooding in Molave, but i don't have load. I'm here at Lola's house and theres no store near in here - they said that the water is in high level. the pig is drowning . I really need to talk to them." "The pig is drowning...!" (Yes, I sent her some load...)
  5. Well been using Western Union for years to send money to the Philippines. Never had a problem but tonight I did as normal and sent money to my wife. The transaction failed and a notice on the website and Email said to call Western U. I left it to sort out in the morning but the phone rang and it was western union, they tell me my transaction is cancelled and I can not use WU again? I said what the F, I said I used WU for years and send to the same person; my wife and now I cant use it? Why. Sorry sir I don't have that information. Well get stuffed WU you just started a war. :1 (72):
