Down Memory Lane

For the past few days, I had an attack of nostalgia of my young and foolish days while visiting myhome town of Olongapo during my early Navy days. I've been listening to Creedence Clear WaterRevival which instantly brought back many fond memories of the great Filipino bands. Their vocalsand instrumentals were so perfect that if I closed my eyes, I would swear that I was listening to theactual singers like Janis Joplin (Piece of my Heart), James Taylor and Bread. One song in particular -- Have You Ever Seen the Rain by Creedence, was one of my favorites. Proud Mary was another song where the petite, young and sexy go-go dancers worked the crowdof drunken sailors. The black lights and pulsating disco strobe lights would fill the dance floor asthe ladies with fish net stockings and high platform shoes, slither and gyrate to the beat of the music. Enjoy the music:

To my fellow members, any other fond memories back in the early 70's?

Yessirie bob!! i often have flashbacks of the florida club ,sitting stageside with a cold brew and a hot babe, jamming to the frictions band. and dodging the fuzz as we tried to score on fendler street.and the afterhours folk sessions at the cork room chilling to bob dylan and arlo guthrie. :cheersty: those were the days, or rather nights in the olongapo i miss daily. :) tanks ej.

Yeah, it’s been so so long ago of my Subic and Clark days when I was in my early 20s in the late 60s in the Philippines! Too many nostalgia tales to tell! I sure had a blast though in both places in Angeles and Olongapo, but reality sets in when stationed back stateside, it’s all work and no play, it‘s been that way my last 20 years of working for the U.S. Government! But now, we’re reaping the benefits of my labor and enjoying our retirement life style here in the Philippines! That’s all that matters to me now, because I’m not the working type especially having to work for a__holes and fortunately for me I retired 6 years early at age 49 thank goodness!

Wow, what a co-ink-ka-dink, I use to live on Fendler St. Also Cork Room 1 and 2 was the bestplace for a nice and quiet relaxation of unplugged acoustic guitar music. The young and prettywaitresses were far from the boom-boom girls that would serve you with no hassles. Often timesI would read a book in a nice quiet corner while munching on some of the best pizzas ever! Itwas a very popular local hangout. Thanks for the memories EJ! Jake

What a co-ink-ka-dink too! We lived on the corner of 8th St., in my grandmother's house in West Tapinac in Subic, just a few blocks from Fendler St. and just walking distance to Sam's Pizza pub/club! They still have the greatest pizzas and sizzling tenderloin steaks today and of course ice cold San Magoo! Great entertainment too! You guys been to Mr. & Mrs. Banks restaurant in Barretto just off the main hiway? They make killer tacos and other great Filipino dishes, like their pancit gisado, lumpias and halo-halo!
