Hello, been away from all as I felt like the black duck, but I'm back with a different attitude. One of the zillion beautiful girls who approached me online didn't quit after the usual few boring few messages and we kind of became good friends. She is in Davao to study hoping to become a nurse soon. I offered help if I got any spare money last month which I didn't, but I still wanted to help her but she refused. This month came looking for help asking 3000 PHP. I sent her 5000 PHP. She was really happy. Good. We'll see if I am wrong, but she seems really a genuine girl. All the best everyone!

Wallaby, Welcome back! I never thought of you as a black duck! You can do whatever your heart desires without anyone's meddling in your personal affairs! You've already read all the posts concerning internet dating and know all the pitfalls associated it and some that have been lucky in finding an honest relationship and some even ending in marriage or a long live-in relationship and some not! All I can say is, good luck and the best of all wishes in your future!

Hey Wallaby, As Art has commented, no one will whack your pee-pee about this. I mentioned in my previouspost that taking chances in hopefully finding the right one is like a turtle: you need to stick yourneck out once in awhile. Otherwise, you may lose an opportunity of a lifetime. Welcome back my friend -- Jake

5,000p? Who cares if it is gone... you did the right thing! Too soon to tell if she is a scammer, but then 'scammers' also have families to support and rent to pay. Time will tell if she makes a habit of asking for help and if she documents what she did with the money. Out on Samar, a 50 kilo sack of rice is between 1350p to 1800p depending on quality (of which I can not tell any difference!) so your donation could actually help feed the family for a month and pay some school fees. I have found that is not the girl / woman who is often a scammer, and the defination of 'scammer' is a fluid one. But her family will put pressure on her to ask for more and more, and then she appears to be a scammer or at least a gold digger. Interesting to see if she is subjected to this and if she is able to say no and mean it. Family support issues have killed off many a relationship between a Pinay and a (damn) foreigner. If you have the budget, I would suggest you continue if not with her, then with others. Just try to find a genuine need instead of a buy me a cell phone, slippers, I need my nails done kind of woman. 5,000, who cares? I certainly would if I just pissed off 5k on a scammer and I couldn't care less if scammers have families, friends, etc. or what pressure the scammer was under. No one should criticize the OP for sending money to an online acquaintance, it's his money, his decision, and nobody else's business but financing a scammer is a different matter entirely. If you have 5k to throw away, there are many more worthy causes and, just to be clear, I'm talking about an individual (male or female) who has a full or part time job trolling the internet for victims and lying through their teeth to extort money.
