Art2ro Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 (edited) Ed :kidding: !!!!!!!What's a Canucks? Hummmmm! Aussies to Yankees, Aussies to Brits, Canucks to Aussies and Yankees, Aussies, Brits and Canucks to etcs? Sounds like a tall order, let alone already trying to figure how a Filipino ticks and what their differences are among their other dialect country folks, where there are tremendous differences! I'll have to think about that one some more and get back with you later until I know what a Canuck is and figure out what you are trying to get at with your off topic subject, I hope your topic isn't racial in nature, because they (the forum management & other forum menbers) jumped in my sh&t the last time I accused (implied) someone of being a racist, when all I was doing was defining what a racist was! Ops, we won't go there for now, because we don't know yet where your off topic is headed, but since I now mentioned it, members will surely be careful in what they say within your off topic subject and stir away from being racial in nature! P.S. OK, I just did a Google search on Canucks, http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=canuck which means a Canadian! But still, I need to think about your topic question some more before I make any remarks or comments or maybe nothing at all! :89: Edited December 14, 2011 by Art2ro
Mr Lee Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Canucks can sometimes be considered an offensive term for French Canadians or sometimes used to refer to someone from Canada, if it were me, then I would leave all slang terms out, as to not offend anyone. I personally do not think a discussion like this can be had without someone getting offended, so I feel that if this topic is to be allowed, then members should tread lightly and be careful what words they use to describe others.Typically this forum is about the Philippines and racism is not allowed, so while I am no longer an administrator on here, I would suggest members wait to post in this topic until Tom gets a look at it and decides if he will allow it or not.
Okieboy Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Yes a very hard subject, in American depends on what part of the country you are from, there are so many cultural differences in the USA let alone other parts of this big wide world, my little pea brain has a hard time keeping up.
Jollygoodfellow Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Personally I feel even though I know Ed is just posting as a topic to discuss cultural differences that it is a dangerous one as people get offended so easy.Therefor I am going to close it.Sorry its the festive season and I don't want problems just now as I have enough of my own.
