Comments are welcome but probably best not to put in any amounts in your posts, only in your poll replies.

So far this poll is shaping up nicely and showing that there are people living with all different types of income. Comments would be nice for people to add now that no one could tell what group you fit into but again, probably best to now say how much income you have, just comment on the poll and if it surprises you or not, or any other related comments you wish to make.To tell you the truth, I am very surprised by the votes since most expats my wife and I have met over the years say they are living on a small pension or social security, so maybe their idea of a small pension is much larger than my idea of what one might be.Whenever there is a poll, the last person to comments post comes up every time someone votes, so I am sure people are probably tired of seeing my comments by now, so please add your own. :541:Also  keep replying to the poll so we can get a good sampling of many expats or people who will be expats. :36_1_50[1]: :13_4_10[1]:

Thank you Kuya for starting this poll. As you may know, I think what is more important is how the monthlyincome will be spent. And unfortunately, that has been covered in many topics of frustrations.....he, he.Have a good one -- Jake

What accounts for the higher then expected amounts is the wording "how much a month do you live on", that's way different from "how much is your monthly income".

I am not sure if I understand what you wrote? Are you saying that expats in the Philippines spend more than they make? I know this could be true with credit cards etc but I would expect just the opposite for expats and would hope they spend less than they take in monthly. I purposely wrote live on so that they would not put down how much they get a month.

Then I misunderstood because I assumed that it was amount spent. There are significant costs with relocating yourself to the other side of the world and starting over, buying furnishings, etc. I have spent, on average, much more per month then my monthly income.

I see that a large number are living on an amount between 35K and 65K which is a huge difference if that is your income range (as in 65K is close to double 35K) so the guys I know living on 1,000 a month US fit right in there. I know it is being done, I just don't know how they do it.

My guess ~$1,000 is an average SSI payout for an American ex-pat? Now we know guys do OK on 40,000 peso or less I sure don't see how.

i know those living in the USA on less, but these are country boys, it is not because they cannot afford to spend more , it is a way of life , not giving your money to the gas company, you have 6 ricks of wood and you know you dont have to worry about heat for the winter, you raise pork and beef and the freezer is full, you build your own house , plant your garden, hunt and fish, and it doesn't matter where your at, you are the same, it is a way of life.
