The Straits of Hormuz is the only gateway to the Persian Gulf. The last time Iran threatened to close itoff was around 1988, where we conducted escort duties of super tankers steaming through the straitinfested with mine fields. I never realize how much I can pinch my butt cheeks so tight. Now, they are rattling their sabers once again. Puck them -- nuke em! Along with Syria and othersanxious to see heaven full of virgin donkeys. http://www.google.co...7e31329021a79d0

Well with an major influx of martyrs after an event like that, perhaps they will have to accept a rain check?

The Iranian military will burst its own bubble. Another threat against the mighty USS Stennis NOT to re-enterthe Persian Gulf. The Stennis, a Nimitz class aircraft carrier needs more leg room anyway and will remain inthe Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Its primary offensive weapon is the F-18 Super Hornet (Boeing, thankyou Old55) with a combat range of 400+ miles. Well within striking distance and plenty of gas stations along the way: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_F/A-18E/F_Super_HornetThis link from CNN is the latest saber rattling: http://www.cnn.com/2...u-s-/index.html

Jake, Thanks for your post. I bet my son's ship could be involved in that hot bed. I don't know what this world is coming too, because of a gallon of oil.

This latest news is about USS Kidd, which is part of the Stennis battle group, rescuing an Iranian fishing boatfrom Somalian pirates. The article said: After its crew received food and water, the US admiral said, the dhow went on its way -- its crew wearing smiles and Kidd baseball caps. Here is the link: http://latimesblogs....an-pirates.html I wonder what the Iranian government will say about thisrescue?

I wouldn't doubt if the Iranian government tries to spin it to make the Navy sound like the bad guys. I can see it now....Somali pirates rescue Iranian sailors from US Navy.

I guess the Iranian Navy will probably cross the red line that the US Navy 5th fleet drew across the Strait of Hormuz. If the Iranians seed the shipping lanes with underwater mines, the US Navy have something up its sleeve -- To solve that problem, the Navy has a solution that isn't heavily-advertised but has a time-tested success rate: mine-detecting dolphins. http://www.theatlant...dolphins/47384/After all this is done, the fanatics will declare a "fatwa" (holy war) against the dolphins.....he, he.
