hi. does anyone here have any idea how to ship from the Philippines to an APO address? what shipping/courier service should i use? i was at fedex yesterday and they don't know what an APO is, i had to explain over and over that it is an overseas military address. i stayed two hours, and all still couldnt figure out how it works coz they wanted a physical address. i need to send some stuff to my husband who is currently deployed in the middle east. thank you so much. your help will be much appreciated.

FedEx as far as I know won't be able to ship to an APO. Perhaps the VFW in Angeles City can help you out, they have an APO post office there. Maybe can arrange to have them send it for you. Go to WWW.vfwpost2485.com/mail_room.htm for their phone number. I hope they can help you out.

No problem. I really hope they can help you out. Packages from home are always a great morale boost during deployments.

Hi, I spent the last 8 years working in Iraq and whenever my wife wanted to or needed to send me something we used DHL. They were expensive so we didn't do it much, but they were cheaper than FEDEX for some reason. May I ask where in the Middle East your husband is exactly? Is it a combat place like Iraq or Afghanistan? Is he a military member or civilian contractor? The info that DHL needed in order to send me stuff to Iraq was a street name (which i gave but was not really real), City (which was the closest actual city to the military base I was working on, Country and a phone number (which I gave and was my old phone number in the States, but they never called anyway). Then they could ship the package, my wife would give me the tracking number so I could look up on line when it arrives and i could go get the package myself from the DHL office where I was so they did not have to try and find me by the address I gave. Once i did this then they new who I was and where i was located and could deliver the package to me themselves. Probably the best way to know how to address the package for DHL or FEDEX is to have your husband go to their office where he is located and ask them for the proper address for their location. That way the DHL/FEDEX office here can look it up that way in their system and know what and where you are talking about. I hope that is helpful as i definitely know what it is like to be in a place like that and need something you cannot get there or just to receive anything from your loved ones or home.Good Luck!Andy

Andy, my husband is in the military, currently in afghanistan.you're right, they were looking for a physical address. what i did with that package was have fedex ship it to NY where we learned USPS processes the APO AE addresses, from there see what fedex is gonna do (not a very good idea). it was a gamble i know, but that was an experimental package to see if i can send stuff from here (i totally had no clue). the husband emailed fedex so we'll just have to wait if they're gonna re-route it. we learned too late that there is a fedex office at another camp in kabul, so maybe that would help next time, like he can just come for pick it up the way you did (i dont want him going over to the next camp all the time just for that tho! *paranoid*), so maybe he should make friends with the fedex guys there and have them deliver it to him! i hope they have DHL there too if you said it was cheaper! thank you so much. ur story helped, this is what we may be doing from hereon.

Here are two News Letters from an RAO website strictly dealing with military matters and for important information that has almost everything you may need concerning the military member and their families residing in the Philippines. http://www2.mozcom.c...br/raonews1.htmhttp://www2.mozcom.c...br/raonews2.htm

art2ro: wow, lots of useful info right there! tricare, deers, mail, travel, taxes and all kinds of support. plenty that we didnt know about here in the philippines that are certainly helpful in our present situation. we're not retired yet, but just in case we decide to move here when that time comes - good to know also that we're not starting from zero! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
