What Not To Bring...?

Anyways, back to the subject.....I would strongly suggest NOT to bring an attitude that would easily offend the shy and timid Filipino. Your physical characteristics will make you stand out anyway and if you have a chip on your shoulder or any level of superiority attitude, you may get a bladed weapon or 9mm round up your butt. Filipinos love to revenge his name, family, wife or sister.
Trust me Jake! I will always treat her family with respect!!! I'm not worried about the 9mm or the blade - I'm more worried about doing something to make her not want me!!! As for the rest of the Philippines? Some families are so big (like hers) that I'm just going to assume that they are all related and treat them all like family! Of course the family bank won't always be open... :nudie:

Hey Bob ... my brother-in-law is living in Alberta if that is anywhere close to you .... don't know the town yet but can find out he ships stuff all the time here by BB boxes and uses a courier ..... cost is I believe $100 per box ...... it is a good thing to bring some stuff with you it kinda keeps you with a link to your past :mocking: ..... you will as other have said find most things here ...... SM dept. store in the mall has large sizes ..... tee shirts to 4x and polios to 3x ...... some shorts to 44 ...... but no long pants in large sizes ..... you can have clothes made here for relatively nothing ...... I've had 4 pairs of cargo shorts made here for 400p for cloth and 500p to have them sewed ...... 2 pair were denim and 2 were camouflage ....... so not a bad price when you consider that they are hand made and fitted ..... I can think of a lot more things you should bring than shouldn't ........ like documents and opening a mail box service to receive your mail from Canada and also at least 2 bank accounts ....... but this is about WHAT NOT TO BEING .......
Thanks Mike!I didn't know about SM having larger clothing... I just assumed I was going to have it all custom made! And, yeah, I have heard the prices are unreal!!! Hmmm... Hamilton to Alberta.... That's like going from Buffalo NY (my old bar haunts in my teens) to somewhere in the middle of Montana and then north for a few hundred miles... It's faster to get to Florida! :nudie: But thanks for the info! I can ship BBs out of Toronto and it's only about a 45 minute drive to their depot or just use one of the more local agents if I go that route.

My experience with Filipino 3x and 4x are simply that they are not 3x or 4x by North American/European/Australian standards. So if you ask for these larger sizes of off the rack clothes made in the Philippines, you may be in for a surprise.
Should be NP for me... I look bigger than I am AND I am going to try and lose my gut before I do the big one... Shirts will either be a North American L or XL and pants hopefully around 34 inches with a 30 leg... So with the Kano size adjustment I should be ok?

Among with others things we shipped in our Balikbayan boxes via LBC from California, we brought our 110v Panasonic microwave oven in 1998 and it still works today!
I have never owned any other brand microwave starting in 1983! I'd love to find another good Panasonic Microwave and Convection oven to bring with me! And there is my wondering about ovens solved! Anything that I don't bring and buy there instead will be a joint purchase... The love of my life will point out the one she wants and I will pay for it...! Seriously I have told her that, even though we are still going to spend some time before jumping into marriage (I'd give it a week before I ask her), we are going to look at major purchases together! It's no fun to buy something that she will end up hating... !

Thanks Mike!I was busy seeing what was available and then converting prices to Canadian.. Really not much different than here for many things so why bother paying for shipping?
