I am also looking for some cool clubs with alot of energy in Manila. More of the techno, trance & house music side. And someone mentioned Republic. I did hear that was good but have not been there yet. I also heard it was located in Taguig.

Republic is in Newport City, across NAIA terminal 3. It's a new development with hotels and casinos, surrounded by condo blocks. One of the hangouts of the elite. It's not my cup of thee anymore.

Again thank you for this useful info, regarding the question I originally posted. To quote LUKE ...
"underage girl" traps and other setups ...
Can you please elaborate some more on this one point as I am definitely not aware (nor prepared to deal with) traps/setups etc...

Basically, if anyone offers you girls, drugs, or any other deal on the street or in the clubs, ignore them. They are usually stings or cons with crooked cops involved. Also avoid anyone who approaches you offering to exchange dollars or with a line similar to 'Hi there! I recognize you from the hotel this morning' My rule of thumb in Manila is, if ANYONE approaches me and initiates conversation, they're a scheming scumbag and best avoided. That goes for foreigners and locals alike. You meet less people that way, but its generally safer.

I second the recommendation you got for Cowboy Grill in Ermita. It is a good place to hang out. Unfortunately, its right down the street from LA Cafe, one of the biggest whore bars and all around cesspool of humanity, in Manila. The area is a bit seedy so you've got to be willing to deal with that atmosphere.

LA Cafe is now called Manila Bay Cafe.  MBC is located on Del Pilar Street.

Cowboy Grill numbers 3 outlets in/near Ermita.  The largest is on Mabini Street, slightly north of Padre Faura Street.  Another is on United Nations Street, near Mabini Street.  A third is on Remedios Street, between Del Pilar and Adriatico streets.

I would not call Cowboy Grill a disco.  It has a dance floor, but customers tend to dance when the live bands play and not dance to recorded music.

For small disco's, go about 11 pm or later on weekends to clubs on Remedios St, near Adriatico St, and clubs on/near Malvar St, east of Bocobo St.  One or two of these clubs specialize in trance music played supposedly around 3am or 4am.

For large disco's, follow the recommendations of others on disco's in Makati and Global City (Fort Bonifacio).  One exception is the large disco on Taft Ave, slightly north of Gil Puyat St.

If you are more into the legit underground House/Tech Scene check out "Time" its Along Makati Ave (opposite A-venue) you need to go :)

More of the techno, trance & house music side.

Pretty small, but a really cool mix of ex-pat and local crowd and some serious guest DJ's (Slam, Nick Warren, Darren Emmerson to name a few)  ..... it starts to get busy pretty late though (2am+) and goes until the sun comes up, and beyond.

Honestly you might be surprised at some of the people who turn up there that you can have a banter with - The roof garden is a great place to meet folks before all the Madness kicks off in the wee hours.

Guess it depends if you are going for quantity or quality :p
