Why A Filipina?

Recommended Posts

The relationship with my special pinay developed rapidly. She gave so much love and care, different in many ways from what I have experienced before: passionate and conservative, softspoken and talkative, shy and ambitious, feminine and commander-in-chief, kind but strict, shopaholic and perfect family accountant. And so on. As time went on I learned to respect her culture and tried to understand her mindset and values. Even if its difficult at times. How much of all this comes from her individual personality, and how much from her filipino culture and upbringing is hard to say.

You have just described what makes certain Filipinas very special. They are very resilient - would have to be, given the hardships (natural calamities or otherwise) that they have endured. They are adept at balancing (passionate and conservative...shopaholic and perfect family accountant), and that keeps them nimble, and able to rise above difficulties.

i was reading lots of your blogs here, but one thing that I really am curious about why marry a Filipina considering that the Filipino culture is way too complicated to live with... I am a Filipina (I am proud to be one - hmmmn, I am just saying this because it is expected of me, I guess, LOL!)...

Hi Julia

For me it started coincidentally. (..or was it destiny...?). It could have been a lady from any part of the world, for that matter. And it happend to be a filipina who stole my heart. I was looking for a new woman in my life, but with no intention to marry again. In my eyes filipino's always have had a high standing, and filipina are beautiful. But again, there are so many beautiful women in the world.

We are now married, and I consider myself as a lucky and priveleged man. There are things that are difficult and challenging at times. Of course there are. Just like in all marriages. And we, who live in a multi-cultural marriages, have our own set of challenges.

From time to time I talk to single friends about relationships and marriage. And my advice to them are: - You should learn to know a filipina. They are just amazing.

This kept popping up and I really enjoyed the replies coming back. But I always wondered if this was the norm for the first few years of a relationship or...? And so yesterday afternoon, while out Christmas shopping, I stopped in at a friend's house. Now he is a Canadian I know who has been married to a Filipina for over 30 years. And I asked him. He started to say that Filipinas were no different than anyone else but after stuttering through several attempted examples, he laughed and asked if I would mind if he kicked me out and to go home. I told him that it was no problem and asked him why. With a great big grin on his face, he replied (and I quote), "Because I am going to take that very special wife of mine out for dinner at her favourite restaurant and then where ever else she wants to go tonight! She deserves it!"

I guess I got my answer...

Thank you all for these wonderful answers. I have a Filipina fiancé who will arrive here hopefully in the Fall. But I am on several forums where many of the men (despite having Pinay wives or gf) complain and criticize Pinays, the Philippines, and virtually  everything else they can think of. I don't take it seriously but sometimes at a down moment I worry. I know that my fiancé is the most wonderful woman and that the many Pinays that I have met and befriended are also extraordinary in character. So I am happy to hear how many of you have happy marriages and lives. I am sure that is what I have in store for me!

It's good to see someone who has experienced that dark and dreary place known as "other forums" and realized that Yes!  We are different!  We validate parking for our members in Antarctica.   :mocking:

Seriously, if it wasn't for our wives and girlfriends, how many of us would still be looking at the Philippines?  I know I would - just because of the people!   :541:

Hey Julia,

Im new here, and I read your post, and the replies. I think by now you have your answer. I met my honey bee, a little over a year ago. And I have to say after traveling from the artic to Australia, I have not found a more genuine person. She is very intelligent, sweet, gentle, ganda2 and funny. We have more fun than I have ever had with anyone in my life.

I am a fair bit older than her, but she prefered an older man. (though she calls me a kanding, goat and I call her a baka) :)   My ex was totally uncommitted but she is totally devoted to me and I am totally devoted to her. You wont find that in a western woman. Us guys from the west, need that from our lady, and we are happy to return the favor.

As far as love, OH MY! She is tender and sweet, she is mahal ko, talaga. She has been my greatest blessing.
