Another School Killing Spree

Thats 3 in a year I believe surely now must the U.S goverment look at the law reguarding gun ownership..how many more innocent young lives must be lost for somebody to have the guts to stand up and say enough is enough .I can go to walmart and buy a gun over the counter try doing that in the u.k .GUN CONTROL does work and can cut down on these horrific moments .

Gun control is a very political discussion. Politics and religion are not acceptable discussion topics.

I will not immediately close the thread as there may be interest in discussing the tragedy of the killings but any replies about Gun control will cause the whole topic to be removed. Let us please be adults. There are other forums for people who thrive on controversy like that.

Yes sir, I'm with you Tiger! However, I have to agree with my fellow moderator Dave that this thread

can easily be another political bickering between two sides, both of which can be both correct.

As Dave suggested, I would like to say a few comments about a child's innocence gone forever. Most

of the victims were elementary students (kindergarten to 4th grade). I would imagine that some of the

surviving students will have difficulty playing any gory video games for the rest of their lives. Some of

them came out terrified with their fellow student's blood on their clothing. My heart goes out for them.

My wife and daughter openly cried their hearts out. I thought I was immune to that but shed a tear in

my quiet moments of praying. May they all rest in peace.

Its hard not to discuss guns when something like this happens .so is it polictically correct to sweep the topic under the carpet to appease the pro gun nuts .we are all sensible adults and shoud be able to debate this topic openly and with out throwing insults at each other .

a man carries a gun into battle and with the grace of god he comes out with it, its a tool of his trade,law enforcement or military this is just plain insane it makes me feel sick inside, and i dont know anyone involved but that does not meen that i cant feel for those that have lost there kids and others there family.its a sad day for all of us decent human beings

Hello Tiger,

Unfortunately, it's easier said than done.....believe me. The Boss has a simple no nonsense set of

forum rules and we must follow them. Both sides of the gun issues are both correct to some degree

and It's easy (emotionally) to fall into a trap of keyboard commando (troll) waiting for its next victim.

If a crazy person had some looney reason to want to kill or maim a bunch of school kids and himself, the easiest way I can think of is to steal a big truck and ram it head on into a school bus with 50 kids in it.

For some reason the looneys don't do that. For whatever reason they prefer to shoot. The result is the same so what is different? I suggest there are a number of American cultural themes that account for it.

Its not cool to kill in an auto accident

It is cool to shoot a gun

Video games reward players for killing with guns and penalize (in road racing type games) for hitting a school bus.

Song lyrics make killing some romantic ideal

War movies make killing look heroic.

The press gives weeks or months of fame to a killer who uses a gun and only a day or two to those who would ram a school bus with a semi.

We need to stop portraying gun toting red necks as cool. Now I am doing it. Point is I don't propose to tell legal adults what to do but we have to stop glorifying it such that the looneys want to be rootin tootin shootin heros.

dave i totally agree with you i have seen enough killing to last me 4 lifetimes it pointless.sure i own guns and i have not used them ever in anger mosly just collect them for there ever increasing value.i think with the ever present media and beamed live to your lounge room people are becoming use to seeing death and violence and in some way just let it pass by without so much as a second thought.but those of us with some moral ground feel outraged just my veiws regards lyno
