I post this story as the LOCAL NEWS seems to be deathly quite on the death maybe, just maybe it will help the family to find answers to this senseless death

POPLAR BLUFF, MO

A Heartland family thought it was a scam when they started receiving messages from people in the Philippines a week ago.

But it turns out, their father was found dead in his hotel room while vacationing there.

Tiffany Jackson and her husband moved to Missouri to be with her father-in-law, Mack Jackson.

"When I didn't know what I was going to do with my life, he suggested
I join the army because that's what made him a man," said J. J.
Jackson.

Jackson's father served three tours in Vietnam and loved to vacation
especially in the Philippines. He had one specific spot that was his
absolute favorite.

"They referred to him as the father of the San Paquio Inn, and that's the hotel he stayed at," said J. J.

But something happened on his last trip there.

"So I get home from work and I have this message on Facebook," said
J. J. "I had a message from this Filipino lady, Elisa Rebeya. Are you
the son of Mr. Jackson? Your father passed away this morning in the
Philippines."

It's not the way any family wants to find out about a loved one. Then they kept getting more messages.

"We didn't know if it was a scam or people needed money from my dad, so we wanted to hear it from the Embassy," said J. J.

"At that point, we still thought it was of natural causes so we were
just trying to get information and make peace with it and move on to see
what assets he had, wills, stuff like that," said Tiffany.

As the family turned to move forward with funeral arrangements, they
got one more message. This one was a little more suspicious.

"If you read this, you need to talk to the police," said J. J. "This
is when we were going through the paperwork, so I really wasn't paying
much attention to it. She said please respond. I was like wait a minute,
did someone kill him? And, she said yes."

Again, the family wanted it confirmed, so they called the police.

"So I put the phone on speaker in front of my family and my husband
and they starting reading us the report," said Tiffany. "They had
arrived on scene at the San Paquio Tourist Inn and found Mack Carroll
Jackson in his hotel room with blood coming out of his face and a
gunshot wound to the head was a the cause of death."

Now with murder the cause of death, the family wants answers. They have hired an attorney to investigate.

"It's one thing to have a parent die and it's another to have a
parent that 66-years-old get murdered in his hotel room on vacation,"
said J. J.

Even with a lot of questions remaining, the hardest part is telling their children.

"Telling my daughter that her new grandpa is gone was really tough
and hard for her to understand. We didn't tell her that he was murdered
but we did tell her that he passed away," said Tiffany.

The family is in the process of getting Jackson's belongings and ashes back to the states.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be made by the end of the week.

I dislike seeing news like this. Condolences to the Family and Friends of a fellow Veteran.

Now one of my habits is to look around to see what else is online about the incidents to see what can be done to avoid them. Found this article about it mentioning the guys was involved with trading gold bars? I pasted that part in Bold typeset.

Gold is a good motive to get you killed anywhere.

Retired US Army found dead inside Davao hotel

Posted February 11, 2013 by anton in BREAKING NEWS.

DAVAO CITY – A 67-year-old retired United States Army was found dead inside a hotel here Sunday morning, police said.

Police identified the victim as Mack Carrol Jackson, who was found
with bullet wound on his head at 11 a.m. Sunday inside Room 107 in
Sampaguita Inn along Quirino Avenue here.

It was learned that Jackson started to board the hotel since August
18, 2012 along with a Filipina wife, who was no longer found after the
incident.

Further investigation showed that a woman a policeman reportedly went
to the hotel and looked for Jackson but did not specify details on
their intention to see Jackson.

Jackson was reported to be a businessman engaged in buying gold bars.

His remains now lie in state at the nearby Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes. (ASA)

Sure, if one deals in gold, they are asking for it!?? Every jewelry store person better watch their backs?? That's nonsense.

I say, where's the wife? Sounds like an "inside" job to me. This war vet didn't deserve this. God rest his soul.

Murdered in the "Safe City" of Davao.  I believe this is more proof that there's no safe place in the Philippines for a foreigner.  I bet James has changed his mind about how safe Surigao City is too.  James and his family are living in fear of murderers who the police can't even arrest.

No matter where we live - and by that I mean country as well - no place is 100% safe.   Just look at your own cities.  There are people who are murdered who everybody states "But why?  So-and-so was such a nice person!"  Still it happens.  Please, let's not make this an "Us against Them" argument!

To me, this sounds like a robbery turned into a murder - or possibly planned in conjunction to the robbery.  My condolences go out the Mr Jackson's family and I sincerely hope that the perpetrators are captured and punished quickly and accordingly.

Ah the plot thickens, wife killed him? police woman lover?  Who knows but as usual one needs to be aware of everything happening around him. Bet there is no follow up news to this either.

But is there ever ..... I'm still waiting to hear about cases that took place years ago ..... seems once the media gets done with their circus antics the case is quickely forgotten ..... by the way anyone know if Gloria is still in the hospital .... dead .... living abroad or what ever ..... seems she is old news now ..... or rather no news now .....  :hystery:  :hystery:

Ah here's more to it, the woman was a policeman so that means a ladyboy in uniform.   How can a woman be a police man

i dont think anything will change anytime soon with the hits on foreigners.

Without any research or even anecdotes to back that up, the post ahead of mine sounds like paranoid fear mongering.

Every place I go in Philippines I find people with similar views.  They think the people in the next village are bad etc.  Then I walk to the next village and they are surprised I made it, because in the village I walked from people are so bad.  :bash:

Anyway, this thread is about the man killed in Davao and my condolences go out to his family but there is no need to link that to white ladies, wak waks, or any other superstition based on fear mongering.
