We are considering shipping a gas bbq, but are not certain about the gas hook-up in the Philippines.  Might there be compatibility issues?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Mc, I assume your BBQ is run on bottled LPG fed direct to your BBQ via a flexible hose, if that is the case the only connection you need worry about is your gas bottles regulator, when you arrive here you'll buy a gas bottle from your local outlet and ask them for a gas regulator to fit it, then connect your flexible hose [ hose an be purchased from any hardware store here]

LPG is used all over the country and there are many company's, however not all use the same regulator, so get your bottle first, we pay 890p for our gas bottle that holds 11kg of gas, this will normally last three months, however your first purchase will cost you more as you also pay for the bottle.

Thanks johnb,

I don't think this will work for our BBQ as the regulator is a screw on type.  Sorry, I don't know how to attach the photo that I have so as to show you...help?

Hi Mac, I assume the regulator is attached direct to the bottles neck, then a hose from the regulator then goes up to your BBQ, your present regulator can be brought with you and you might find a bottle to fit the connection, but the simplest way is to purchase a bottle here and then buy the appropriate regulator, in my case the regulator has a bayonet fitting you just push the regulator down and twist, then lock it with a turn of a peg.

Ok Mac,I've now seen your picture, I seem to spend half my life in Hardware stores so I'll check out flexible hose with a screw thread in place, citihardware is my local hardware and I know they sell gas BBQs so I'll try there first............

At  a push you could just cut of your regulator, then join your threaded hose to a new hose and regulator, or try to buy the correct  threaded hose without a regulator attached before you leave...just a thought

They have both the screw type and push type tanks and regulators here ..... we used to have the push type but as per a post I made last year we got rid of it as the damn thing would not lock any more and so we went to the screw type but I'm not real sure your threads would match ..... but like what was mentioned I'm sure you can adapt the hose to a regulator here ..... there are plenty of barb fittings around ..... plus they sell some gas barbies here like Char Broil etc. ...... :cheersty:
