Out And About In Bacolod

We went to the new Farmers Market on Magsaysay St. across from DC Cruz in Goldenfield .... when they get some more participants it will be kinda nice .... everything they sell there is organic but not sure about the food ... they have veggies and one boy was proud of his fresh Tilapia sill alive and swimming in his homemade tank .... price is p100 to get in per person but redeemable when you buy something worth p100 just give it to the vendor where you are buying something and they discount it from the cost of the item .... I kinda like that idea ... keeps the street kids out ....

They have used the shade netting strung over the food court and some other areas to give some much needed relief from the sun (trying to find some to use as a carport but can't find it) we asked the lady running the market but she didn't know even though she had 3-4 rolls of it standing in a corner ....

The food we ate was very good I had something like Sheppard's pie ... mash potatoes with ground meat and then made into flattened balls and deep fried .... man were those good ... they have lots of baked goods like bread etc. we bought a loaf of walnut raisin bread and I was surprised when we got home as it wasn't sweet or salty ... but you needed to put something on it like butter or maybe peanut butter ... I thought it was good ....

One word of caution if you park up the bank by the bamboo fence make sure no one parks on the street behind you or you maybe there for a while .... we were lucky as when we were about to leave someone pulled up behind us and even with me backing up he wasn't going to move until I got out of the car and glared at him ...

Anyway it was a nice experience but we will wait until they get more vendors before going back .... :cheersty:

We are going to Bacolod tomorrow, just to look around for a few days.  We may have to find that place.  The shepherds pie'ish fried thing sounds great

We have never been there before.  We got a room at the Middle Town Inn (near SM, and lagoon park).  Picked it because it was cheap, seemed to be near a lot of stuff, and had decent enough reviews (for a $25 a night room for 3).

The only thing we know for sure is my girlfriend wants to go to the the Mambukal Mountain Resort.  Waterfalls, butterflies, fruit bats... you know, fun.

Yes sir been there done that ..... I think I posted some pictures of our trip there before school let out ..... it is well worth the trip ..... when you get almost to it and are winding around through the little communities look to your left and you will see a big military camp (forgot the name of it) where there are some army guys  .... it is one of the bases used to try and control the NPA in that area ...... but it is perfectly safe .... if you guys want you can stay there over night in one of their cabins ..... don't remember the price but it was pretty cheap ...... go on a week day as weekends are kinda crowded ..... also food at the food court is very good but all native style cooking ...... I did a write up on that also .....

Enjoy the place is beautiful ...... don't forget the butterfly gardens .....      :cheersty:
