callippo Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 There is at least one specialist goat (kanding) restaurant in Cagayan de Oro, in Divisoria, the block behind the Park View Hotel. Though other items like chicken and pork are available, the is heavily goat-oriented. The walls are plastered with all this information about how nutritious and healthy and non-fattening goat meat is supposed to be, and live animals are even available. I would imagine goat being a bit more popular in Mindanao than elsewhere with the higher number of Muslims meaning the demand for pork is less.
i am bob Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I have come across a few places here in Davao with goat as well... I didn't really keep track but I can say they are mostly within a block or two of San Pedro St.

jpbago Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I have come across a few places here in Davao with goat as well. HUH! Still missing my Lamb Guys. JP :tiphat: A Scotsman buys several sheep, hoping to breed them for wool. Soon he notices that none of the sheep seem to be pregnant, so phones a vet for help. The vet tells him that he should try artificial insemination. The farmer doesn't have the slightest idea what this means but, not wanting to display his ignorance, asks how he will know when the sheep are pregnant. The vet tells him that they will stop standing around, and instead will lie down in the grass . The man hangs up and gives it some thought. He comes to the conclusion that artificial insemination means he has to impregnate the sheep himself. So, he loads the sheep into his Land Rover, drives them out into the woods, has sex with the lot , brings them back and goes to bed. Next morning, he wakes and looks out at the sheep. Seeing that they are all still standing around, he deduces that the first try didn't take, and loads them in the Land Rover again. He drives them out to the woods, bangs each one twice for good measure, brings them back, and goes to bed exhausted. Next morning, he wakes to find them still just standing around. "Try again." he tells himself, and proceeds to load them up, and drive them out to the woods. He spends all day shagging his hardest ,returning home knackered . The next morning, he cannot even raise himself from the bed to look out of the window. He asks his wife to tell him if the sheep are lying in the grass. "No,"she says, "They're all in the Land Rover, and one of them is beeping the horn."
Hesalright Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 This is a really difficult question..... I like the fast food restaurants (Chow King, Jolibee) I like the street food (BBQ skewers are the best!!!) I like home cooking (pancit ,Lechon) Too many awesome dishes to remember and list, to many to choose just 1. I love it all even when im stuck on the toilet for 2 days after eating it.................... LOL
John Mogusar Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Speaking of goat...they make an excellent goat (kambing) caldereta in Batangas. Isn't that where you're headed John? You might like that goat dish better. Yes, I am heading to the Batangas. I liked the goat dish I had just fine. It was more the idea of eating goat--not quite my normal fair. But I'm certainly not against eating it again and of course I'd get used to the idea. (Still won't go for the dog, though!) Also, I had it in Cebu SM Food Court and although I don't remember specifically, I think it was probably from one of those restaurants that prepares everything all at once in the morning and then the food sits out all day, getting cold in the process. There were several of those types of restaurants at the food court and everything always looked so delicious, but for obvious reasons, I try to avoid that type of food.
i am bob Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I always compare it to kids... They will eat anything of the ground with dirty fingers and they never get sick... OK, rarely get sick. We eat something off our neighbors hygienic kitchen counter and get deathly ill. We have destroyed the good stuff inside that lets us eat like the kids! Living in the Philippines, you will eventually get this back if you eat the locally made food... :D
jpbago Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) If it doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger! Filipinos get sick frequently with amoebas. My nephew lost weight so I asked how did he do it. It was diarrhea for 2 weeks. I got amoeba for the first time in my life recently from a Jolibee champ burger.
