My family has a simple duplex a few chicken coups

Now here seems a Going Concern to look at, Steve if you have enough Room for a Build, you may have enough room for Laying Hens.

Eggs, seen to be much in Need here.

Just a Thought

JP

Opps, I mean several of the more simple homes look like a chicken coop to me.

Thanks boys for the replies,

I  am happy with what investments i have put in so far and maybe in the future too, like you say, if i had to walk away from it all its not the end of the world,

The land is Ems so its just the building cost and i could do a lot myself, plus it will keep me busy,

We are not talking millions here but security for my wife and because we maybe living somewhere in the Phils by then the revenue will be in peso so there is no need to worry about if currency changes, anyway its just a thought at this moment

The question is... Is there any demand for rental units in the price range for what you build at that location?

Location.. Location... Location... as they say in business.

Yes there is, there use to be a house or should i say a very small shed that was rented out but since the new house is being built it had to be knocked down, the people who rented this are asking about the apartments already,

The rent is not much but its the going rate and like i said, this amount added to what else that  maybe coming in will be handy,

Guys we are living here with a population exceeding 90Mil. There are heaps of opportunities out there just a matter of getting off ones butt and finding them

I have expat friends making very good serious monies here in Philippines. Most but all have their respective business in wife's name. Note I said not all.

I have several investments going here, sure has some bums but over all success. No pension and doing OK, no complaints. One foreigner I know earning nicely with no investment funds....Finding rental units for expats and Filipnos alike.

There are many possibilities, and yes fully agree do not invest everything, personally I keep the limit at 35% but with seemingly most hard currencies depreciating against the ever powerful peso intend to review this. Over the last year or so many expats relying on a set pension must surely be feeling the pinch now.

Yes. Many competitors too   :)    Filipinos are "specialists" at copying, when it's to much too...

(I will try to solve that by starting something few Filipinos have knowledge or money to start.)

   Any business types examples?   :)

That's not legal    :)   if it isn't businesses, which the foreigner could have same percent in OWN name.  (=A Filipina WIFE* is counted as FOREIGNER concerning max OWNING allowed.   =The "Anti-Dummy" law.  When there is a foreigner in the marriage, the law expect it's done with the foreigners money, so in REALITY it's the foreigner's business.  That's why they made that "Anti-Dummy" law.)

*But if it's a GIRLFRIEND, so they are not married, then they are counted as business partners, which sometimes CAN make it ok (if I understand the law corect).

It's perfectly legal to have the business in your wife's name in certain situations... Small business is the easiest example. If it's a one or two person operation (is: sari-sari store), you aren't going to go out and get another partner to meet the foreign investor rules.

Do you mean the "Anti-Dummy" law isn't relevant for such businesses, just because of the company FORM??

Or isn't it just no problem with small businesses - mostly - because the officials don't bother ?   :)

It was a rather long time since I did read that law, but I believe I would have found such a "lope hole"   :)    BUT not sure, because English isn't my first language.

The anti-dummy law is dealing with larger businesses that are established as corporations and partnerships where we are looking at the expat being a partner. A sari-sari store, a hair dresser, private maid service - these are examples of sole-propriety business that are not covered. Renting rooms in a boardinghouse or apartment are also good as expats can't own land... Of course the building would be in your wife's name as well. Should your

wife decide to keep the profits and not share with you, well, that is a different matter.

The thread is about Making a Living.  So timely considering costs keep going up and the exchange rates keep going down.  I must not be the only one who feels the pinch and wants to find a way to supplement his income.

So why haven't 'work from home' ideas been covered here?  Anyone with positive experiences or advice to share here?  The Internet has a million pages or more on how to make money working from home and probably a million more explaining how they are all just scams. So does anyone have any specific ideas?

I have read about 'blog writing', 'home based call centers', 'work from home English teachers', and 'sell you pictures on Instagram' as being a few of the ideas touted on line.  Anyone have first or second hand info on whether any of these ideas would produce at least 500 pesos a day?  (Which I would consider the least amount to make it worthwhile getting off my arse  :hystery:  )
