I got a free lunch, or I should say, the five of us did yesterday. First time in 4 years I did not have to pay 1 peso. The family of our daughter's b/f invited us to a resort in Punta TayTay. They picked us up, paid the entrance fee, supplied all the food and drink, and then returned us home. The father is a seaman, engineer, making $3,500/month, they have 2 children, one finished college and is working in the office of SM mall, the other is in 2nd year criminology, the wife rents out 4 rooms and lends money @ 20%. This family all speaks English and have a fairly good life other than the fact that the father is always out at sea.
