Petey Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I will probably get slammed for my presumptions now - but i mean no offence. I'm thinking that from what people have posted there are in there silver years. Myself - I'm in my late 30's. I am curious to know what people do from day to day. Many of the locals here ( and other areas that ive lived ) rarely go outside so there is zero interaction. There are 2 white people who live in my sub div - 1 is German maybe late 60's. The other lives opposite my house - American/Canadian/Australian - Well not British i know that much :hystery: . He also is in his 60's. My father spoke to the German man briefly when there was a local council meeting. So besides the company of your partner and family... what do you do in your "me" time... do you have "me" time? Popular Post Jack Peterson Posted April 12, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 12, 2015 For me, daily I go to our local Sorry, Sorry, I have my 2 bottles and chat to the locals at 20 peso a time. I have no Foreigners on my Road and the Rest in the Barangay prefer the Boulevard at 50 or 60 + per Bottle. I get the Local Gossip, Events and much more. If I had wanted to spend too much time with other Foreigners I would have stayed in Spain. I meet once a month with other members from the Forum and we have a Chin wag and put the World to rights but here on the Forum is where I think we can get all as much information as we need and it is far cheaper, Meeting up for a beer or two is a Big Bonus so I don't abuse that. BTW The visit to my SS store is My time and My Wife is so very respectful of that :hystery: she normally only rings me 3 times :mocking: JP :tiphat:
Petey Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 I do like me a Pale Pils from time to time. But im a light weight... a winegum and glass of water and im on my back puking up :hystery: Maybe thats what i should do... there is a Shope Hause maybe 1/4 mile away ( i notice your British so no need for Km measurments  ). I should walk but its not the distance thats the issue its the 60% gradient that looks a little off putting at 9000 Deg heat lol.
jon1 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I ride my motorcycle often. I also home brew (beer, wine, mead) and do a bit of reading. I also meet with expat friends every week at our favorite watering hole (sometimes twice a week). I do a little bit of walking. I stay pretty busy and am rarely bored.
Thomas Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I haven't moved there yet, but I will have MUCH to do. In steps: 1/ Living among people ! :) Get to know gf proper as well as her family, before deciding finaly if we will marry. Do compleeting research concerning where to settle and what business to start. 2/ Still living among people, but after deciding where to settle, I know which the local language will be, so I will start studying it a bit. Marry. Prepare settling and business start. (Documents, get equipment.) 3/ Settling RURAL with no close neighbours. Probably in a simpler house, which a worker will use when/if :) I will afford the house I want. (IF I want any of the family-in-law close, that house can be for one of them.) Interact some with locals. Startup the business, so much work. 4/ Then it's time to relax with geting kids :mocking: Still work, but less now when things are organiced. Exersise using canoe or bicycle. 5/ I'm 62, but plan to work SOME many years still, but less and less. When kids get older, so they don't need to be looked after and are in school, then I will start teaching my wife to handle more and more of the business, so she know how to go on if she want to when I die. (6/ IF I'm still alive, in enough shape AND any kid want to start own business instead of joining the family business, then I will assist them some with knowledge - IF it want to get assistance :) (Traditionaly at my father's side, each second generation is scared of changes wanting security and us between are gamplers (=calculating risk takers :) So if that comtinue, my son will want a secure income... :)
Forum Support Dave Hounddriver Posted April 12, 2015 Forum Support Posted April 12, 2015 I'm thinking that from what people have posted there are in there silver years. That's a nice way of putting it. As to what we do all day, what do you suppose you will be doing when you are 60, a little money in you pocket, no need to work, cheap food and booze everywhere, beautiful young girls treating you like a rock star, Viagra for sale on every street corner, and you are experienced enough to know how to use all the talents God gave you. That's what we are doing too.
