Call me bubba Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A British man living in the Philippines for 10 years has been arrested to face charges he molested a 14-year-old boy in the United Kingdom, Filipino immigration authorities said Thursday. Douglas Michael Slade, 74, was arrested by immigration agents Wednesday at his home in northern Angeles City where he has been a permanent resident for 10 years, said Bureau of Immigration and Deportation spokeswoman Elaine Tan. Slade denied the charges, saying they were "make-believe" and a "magical fantasy." He had been arrested in five child abuse and child pornography cases in Angeles City but all the charges were dismissed, Tan said. A report by the immigration bureau said Slade lived close to a school in Angeles, "making it easy for him to lure children to his home" where he allegedly paid boys as young as 8 years old 150 pesos (about $3.30) to pose for nude pictures and perform sex acts on him. "Indecent images" of boys were allegedly found in his laptop, the report said. Tan said the British Embassy requested Slade be apprehended to face the molestation charges. He is being held at an immigration detention center pending resolution of the deportation proceedings. Despite his permanent resident status in the country, Slade may still be deported for being an "undesirable alien," Tan said. Dismissed because he paid the correct amount of money. Very sad that money comes before a childs welfare and innocence. You are right, but unfortunately it is all about appearances. In public people say they care. But most people here really do not care. So, these guys get away with a little bit. Later they get away with a bit more... and more... and more... Then one day the same people will act shocked and surprised at his actions. And ask "How could he do such a thing?!" In many of these cases the parents get paid and allow it (not sure about this case). This guy had 5 cases against him dropped - he just assumed this one would be dropped too. And it still might... Unfortunately for him, he now has this International warrant to contend with, the UK most certainly will Not drop the case and I also do not think the PI Authorities will put the Warrant to the Bottom of any pile. No Mr Slade is in a Corner now with no trap door. :thumbsup: He will soon Remember how UK justice, can be Served. No Doubt he will not try to buy his way out of this last little lot as he will know being in a PI cell will be better than what awaits him in a UK cell. Call me bubba Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 in this case it seems that he is beyond a doubt guilty,,, just remember just because a person is arrested for an OFFENSE doesn't make him guilty. some of long time expats here know that anyone with a grudge can file a complaint, or if you discipline your child too harshly that child can make a complaint until you $$$ resolve it Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
