You got that right!  I don't miss the US Navy......but I do miss my boys and I'm sure most of them are retired by now.  At sea duty on a warship is actually 90% boredom and 10% terror.  You never know when you're gonna eat it in spite of all the battle station drills being shove down our throat.

The facebook video clips of the Royal Australian Navy (thank you CWO Brett) brings back many vivid memories of standing the midnight watches, the boredom, the loneliness and most of all, the feeling of family separation with your love ones.  Anywhere from a just received Dear John letter (honey, I met another guy) to war at sea battle stress, the Australian Navy still needs to patrol 360 degrees of expansive oceans, including the Antarctica region.

They work hard but RAN plays hard too......he, he.  You guy are king chit sailors in Singapore, HK, Malaysia and other juicy port visits.  The US Navy has too much political baggage to visit any port they want.  For example, a US nuke carrier was allowed to visit but he has to park beyond the break waters.  It makes it rough tossing and turning as we get shuttle back to the carrier a few miles out while you're tossing your lunch over the side of a 40' liberty boat.

I was on a Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate, USS Clifton Sprague FFG-16.  Australian Navy bought a few of them and renamed the class as Adelaide Class frigates.  I loved it.....drives like a Porsche with acceleration and quick maneuvering. Kind of low in armament and armor protection. Usually positioned as the outside escort for a battle group and the 1st one to be sunk when the bubble goes up....he, he.

Thank you Brett, you and I need to swap some sea stories about my hometown of PO City.  Sorry guys, it's all top secret discussions.....he, he.

Respectfully -- Jake, USN retarded
