Any Recommended Car Insurance Companies?

Hi all

We have just purchased a 'new' (or is it newly assembled?) Multicab 4x4 pickup.

The deal included one years insurance with Peoples General which I assume is Compulsory Third Party Liability. The policy documents are still with the dealer so I don't have them to hand to check. In any event, I guess that cover is pretty much useless so would like to get some worthwhile insurance to cover us in the event of a serious accident.

Having looked back through other threads, there seems very little recommendation of good insurance companies. Of course the acid test is how easily they are to deal with in the event of a claim. Some forum members seem to use Federal Phoenix, UCPB and MAPFRE.

What companies would you recommend, and, perhaps more relevent, have you any experience in the event of how a claim was handled?

Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Ken

We insure our car through BPI (yes the bank) car insurance service. Just pop into the bank and pay the premiums. Have not had an accident so really cant comment on after accident service.

Now in all fairness, my wife's family has been insuring cars through them for years so I just inherited the service (like so many other things that happen that way).

Thanks for the info.

I hadn't thought about BPI. I will add them to my list.

May have to PM details as not sure allowed to post names and contact here, perhaps someone can enlighten me.

It's best not to post someone's Email address but there is nothing wrong with posting company names, physical address if it's a business address or website link as you are not the owner of the business and are not standing to make a gain or soliciting free advertising for yourself.

But on the other hand better PM me who you're referring to first as there are a couple of expats running business in the Philippines that I won't allow details to be posted on the forum for reasons of my own.

There is an expat insurance agent in Angeles who came highly recommended by a few expats here in Subic, so I am giving him a try for my new policy.  I delayed until the last minute so I didn't shop around, but the policy he offered is cheaper and has higher coverages than the last one (purchased by previous owner).  He comes to Subic a few days a week but I am doing everything by e-mail, so I guess he could do business with you anywhere.  If anyone is interested in his details, PM me.

The former policy is with Standard Insurance.  The new and better one is with Pioneer Insurance.  You could probably contact them directly without an agent.

If you go back to the PMs and open them, look to the left top corner of the page and it will tell you if they have been read.
